Hello All,
I just purchased a EVGA 8800gtx and the pcb is green. I am just wondering who makes all their 8800gtxs with black boards still. Also is the a difference besides color?

Thanks!
Eddie

BFG's are black...at least mine is, unless my memory is fading.
As for any difference between colors...there shouldnt be

Most of the black PCB colored GTX's had a defective resistor that caused card failure quickly. Thus, they made a revision that now uses the green colored PCB's with the resistor fixed.

Where the hell did you get that statistic? FORUMS? LMAO!!!

I just wanted to confirm that this is completely incorrect.

For example, EVGA didn't actually ship any 8800's (GTS or GTX) with a bad resistor.

Their first few batches of cards used the black PCB. Now they are receiving green PCB's from the OEM.

That's right, the color of the PCB has nothing to do with the whether it has the bad resistor or not. My understanding from our local component distributor is that none of the bad resistor G80's available for retail sales made it to Canada, since we typically get stock later than the USA. And I can say that at least in my area there still aren't any green PCB models available for sale. I suspect we'll start seeing them shortly.

It is more than likely a cost reduction activity by nVidia on the reference board. When other manufacturers move away from the reference design we may start seeing black or other colors.

No need to be rude when correcting someone's misinformation. I was only trying to help  . It's people like you that dissuade others from trying to help others on this forum.

And in any case you're mostly right. The black PCBs were first-run 8800 GTXs. Now, for whatever reason, the cards are being made using green PCBs. You aren't going to find any new 8800s on black PCBs.

I see no issues with dissuading posts containing false info. Feel free to do so if I ever post incorrect information. ;)

i saw a black leadtek but i have no idea if it was the new or old version.

btw, if manufacturing cost the same for black or green or whatever colour one fancies, why choose green?

Not sure. What about the brackets? Are they still black on green cards?

All new GTX I've seen are coming with green PCB.

My GTS was with black PCB and it looked so good. Now green PCB on GTX looks somehow cheep :(
