I wont be picking up the 8800 for a few reasons


Price (holy shit)
My 2 7800s are just fine and i can turn any game up to max at 1600x1200 and have no issues at all.
and power consumption

This card will be consuming more power than my damn laptop being 3dmarked (mx7515 gateway)


Who here agrees?
 
Eh, I've got 1 256mb 7800GTX and I'm definitely upgrading. I want to get good frame rates even with horribly optimized games like Oblivion and this is definitely the best way to do that.

And how much did the 7800's cost when they first came out? Probably not much less than the new 8800's.

I may just wait until R600 is out and maybe prices will drop... I can't spend more than $450 on one card. thats just retarded

I just bought my 7800gt when they were first released (what 6 months ago?) for around that price

congratulations. you just justified not spending $700 on a gfx. Next?

as for me, i am buying one because im going to step up from eVGA. I spent $300 back in april for my 7900gt, was issued an rma last week, and the step up started all over again. So, $300 for me will be a good deal.

A) Been stated over and over.

B) A new *Thread*. It's fine to comment IN a thread, but devoting an entire thread to your opinion is a big no no.

C) Totally subjective. Great, so you dont need a GTX, but us 20"+ widescreen gamers do. I'm not going to go post a thread on "Why I WILL be picking up an 8800."

if price is an issue then you are not the intended target audience. its much like a sports car.. you gota have it or you dont.

just wait till the main stream g80's hit , then buy one.
