why would I want that as a hard drive, when by the time that becomes affordable hard drives will 1 terrabyte will be affordable too.

how much of a terrabyte would you use seriously? i have 120 gigs and i'm barely filling 40 gigs of it.

I couldn't find the feature in 5342 today. The one bad thing is though if its using it for SuperPrefetch then you can't just pull it out, won't you proabably have to close some applications and stuff. I'm still trying to decide if its a good or a bad thing. Its not like we're in the days when RAM was super expensive 2GB is pretty affordable right now.

good point even thouhg i usually have my flash drive pulged in kinda defeating the purpose in having one but most people dont leave them in, and yes you would have to close the applications or have them be switched over to actual ram.

I think its fake, no way you can fit 64gigs into a stick that size and if you could, they would be using that tech for RAM already.

think again, this is flash storage not ram :) this is the largest made the reason its not largescale is well.. you look at the pricetag.

mmmm I still dont know

when you press "add to shopping cart" on the sellers' website you get a 'page cannot be displayed'

maybe your right it seems plasible though i mean i know they have 32GB drives never seen them for sale but i know there around, 64GB would be the next leap.

and recent developments have improved performance, capacity, and write/erase endurance greatly. With endurance figures now beyond 100,000 writes/erases, the viability of Flash has come a long way. As OS and applications developers adjust to the Flash model the endurance problems will soon become negligable.

if you use Flash drive as a hard drive, xp writes their swap file on it every few seconds. AMong other data you have, so w/ 100K write, how long does your flash drive last?

On my machine, the pagefile is touched only once in a while. Check out Filemon, which lets you see access to files happening. I'm running many tabs in Firefox, foobar, PuTTY, an upload or three in uTorrent, and the log isn't showing hardly any accesses to the pagefile. Sure, the disk is getting pounded with requests (mostly for uTorrent and foobar), but the pagefile isn't one of them.

Set Filemon to highlight pagefile.sys and show *. I think you might be surprised how few highlighted lines show up.

That depends of the people ...

I just got a new 250GB hd (have a 120GB too) yesterday and there's already ~150GB on it ..

TV Shows ftw!

I could see myself filling 1TB relatively easy.
