GRAW pc demo is out

They must be as they left it out wait and see LOL We need a patch ASAP...

That's what I'm thinking. Hopefully the demo is just a taste of the game and the full version will have more options including AA. If not, i'm sure Ubisoft will hear all the loads of crap from everyone about no AA and that would push them to release a patch that allows the support of AA in the game. I really want this game so I am really hoping that the full version has AA. I was able to play the demo at 1680x1050 at max everything in the options and it ran like a dream. I didn't find the jaggies to be that bad, but maybe's its cause I ran it at a higher resolution than 1280x1024 or 1024x768. The jaggies still bother me a bit so lets all pray for AA in the full version.

why dont you just enable 4x or 8xAA in the nvidia driver control panel, you dont have to have game support for AA to run AA

I'm getting better at controlling the squad. I pretty much have to put them on cover fire or they seem to wonder to much and even then they move around more than I'd like. The AI for the bad guys is ok. They do dive and take cover which is nice and are pretty quick to respond to a threat.

Maybe I'm missing something but how are people playing above 1280? The options i the game only give me 1280 @ 75Hz as the highest setting.

As I said in the other GRAW forum:

"Eh... I've got my hands on a retail copy and it's the same thing as the demo.

That's right: no AA whatsoever... and the HDR is significantly crappier than it is in the 360 version.

As much as I hate to admit it... 360 GRAW > PC GRAW. Thanks "Grin Studios"!"

you dont need game support for AA necessarily

Disagree
They are two different games.
Having played both i prefer the pc version.

Doesn't work with ati.
I think the game needs to support it, the same was appranet with brothers in arms.

if so, maybe they will come out with a patch soon after release that will support AA

that's only a problem for ATI peeps :p

we nvidia users dont have to have game support for AA ;)

Athlon xp 2400 mobile (oc 3200), PDP 3200 (512x3), Maxtor 60 gigs, Evga 6600GT, Abit NF7-S 2.0 Install Graw , notice artifacts on start up screen(but not in rest of game), used auto detect to set settings (low to medium mostly), game ran ok for most part but movement was like it was stuck in slow mo. and run was speed walk. I am waiting for Conroe or hopefully Amd answer to it to come out before I upgrade , but if it turns out to be true what was posted about full version, then i will pass on this game.

well, looks like the driver level AA might not work for me either......i took a screen shot in the same spot, without, with 4xAA and at 8xS AA and you cannot tell a difference

bummer

they were trying to make it realistic, well at least for a video game...

Thats stange, cos i never got AA to work with BIA on my 7800GTX

Explain to me the difference. You can put AA on in certain games or try and set it through the driver for either card. Only difference I can think of, is if forcing AA causes issues in certain games, Catalyst AI will ignore your forced AA. However, you can trump that by just shutting AI off. So please, enlighten me.

Is AA not broken for Nv in GRAW or are you speaking out of the wrong end? :p

go back and read man, you quoted my reply to someone else who said that forcing AA was not an option for ATI owners, i dont own an ATI card, but i know Nvidia drivers allow AA to be applied even if the game doesn't support it

and if you had read two of my posts after that, i clearly confirmed through my own testing that the same was also true for Nvidia users, that on GRAW, we cannot get the driver to force AA either

so now........go back and read all of the posts in context, apply a little thought, comprehend, and then tell me

whats your point?

It was me who said this, and i didn't mean to imply that it simply wasn't an option in the ATI drivers, i was saying that AA forced didn't work with ghost recon.

i think texus pete thought, as did i that with you saying
"that's only a problem for ATI peeps" you were under the impession that forcing AA through drivers simply wasn't an option.

Just a misunderstanding i recon
No biggie.

that was my impression, as i dont own ATI hardware ;)

My point? Sounds like the misunderstanding was between you and the other guy. Does it matter you quoted someone else first? I missed that you were more misinterpretting the post you were quoting rather than trying to add another point. Not my fault. He was more or less talking about game support. You said only a problem with ATi users. I asked you to clarify what you were saying, and even inadvertantly explained your misconception to be not true. There is no real difference. Now, I'm all out of spoons.

It's all good. :)

*hands Pete another spoon*

Sorry, I just get uptight about being right. Good thing being wrong doesn't happen very often.

Nevermind me nobody_here. I'm a buttocks. :D

Anybody get SLI working with the game? I get lower FPS with it enabled.

You'll have to build a new SLI profile. AA absolutely will not work, even when forced. I also found that AFR2 (option is only availble when using coolbits) is unstable...AFR is the way to go and yields better performance to boot.

what is AFR/AFR2?

Alternate Frame Rendering

AFR2 is trick version that yields good results for some engines but is buggy in others. Its buggy with GRAW.

Are you talking about Max Frames to Render Ahead? (Nvidia driver control panel)

Or is this different?

Its different. Its the rendering mode SLI uses to draw the game. When you activate the advanced features under Coolbits youre presented with 5 or so rendering options under the SLI Rendering Options in Performace Profiles instead of the Single GPU or Multi GPU you see without Coolbits. Theres also a split scrren option iirc.

Didn't run very nicely on my machine.... Seemed to lag behind what I wanted... The game does seem good, don't think I'll buy it when it comes out. Though if I want to play SWAT like game it does seem pretty nice.

Just don't think I'm ready for that type of "slowed" down action yet. An awesome game for its time no doubt though. Tom is getting back to his PC roots and what a way to do it.

Like I said though, runs behind on my machine, when i really shouldn't. Saw nice graphics, but nothing that warrented it slowing my machine down. See sig for basic specs.

i dont see why not

throwing a grenade under that vehicle made it explode than made another vehicle explode about 10 feet away from it, and when that guy ran along that peice of metal was flung about 40 feet into the air WTF IS THAT SHIT?

I'm getting the same thing, too. I tried disabling Daemon Tools, restarting, etc... but, alas, no luck. Does anyone know a fix for this or why it does it?
Same here. I get a "failed to intialize rendering device" error.

I'm using a widescreen LCD (Viewsonic VX2025wm) so I suspect it may be the current resolution I'm running at?!? (1680x1050)

Any thoughts?
