Howdy folks,

On the various widescreen monitors out there (preferably the VX2025wm from Viewsonic), is it feasible to get a Component-to-DVI converter to connect an XBOX 360? Does it run well, is quality lost?

I'm close to purchasing the Viewsonic but want to make sure this is something I can do. I already checked on the Displays forum and received some help but wanted more feedback if possible.

Thank you,

You can't do a Component to DVI, it just won't work.

You can buy the VGA cables though, and get a VGA to DVI adapter and that will work.

I play my 360 on the PC monitor from time to time that way. It looks better than the HDTV IMO.

There's no issue with playing it at widescreen, and at 720p and 1080i, etc? Through VGA will I experience similar or better quality then the Samsung 56" HD DLP I'm used to playing on? (well, minus the size difference of course)

i play my 360 on my dell 2405.. which has component as well as dvi.. works great, i hit a button to switch between the two, i think this is probably the best way to play the 360 with component and have a pc with dvi on the same display

Yeah I have a friend that also uses a 2405...the monitor that I will be getting doesn't have a component-in which is why I am skeptical and trying to be cautious about it. If the VGA cable will provide the same type of quality that the component does in the 2405 then I will be happy!

The VGA does a great job, and my Hitachi PC monitor looks really good playing the 360. Better all the way around IMO. If I had known that the 360 would work with a PC monitor, I would have never bought an HDTV to begin with.

VGA Cables are great. In some cases, it looks superiour to component. In all, you should not be disapointed. I use my 360 on a 2005FP and love it. I wouldn't mind a bigger screen, but this does the job for now.
