    I did the update and root patch (per post #2 of this thread). Definitely snappier. Animations are smoother and feel better.

    I have the X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro and use the 5.1 analogs with no problems in win7 x64. i am using the 2.18.0013 drivers.
