Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I think its stopped since i got rid of the "...user\application data\no eggs poke" folder as well as a ".docume~1\All Users\Application Data\4wipewaitstart" folder wich also contained a bunch of exe files that meant nothing to me. I have left PC running for a couple of days and havn't seen the...
Oh, what on earth is this?
*doesn't enjoy cleaning up other peoples computers very much*
At the moment I'm assuming this is something worth removing... I dont know where/what it could've come from.
Right, first I'll try avoid downloading more programs, so I'll disable system restore, go into safemode, clear out the temporary folders and delete the new batch of sta*.exe's thats shown up, and run spybot/ad-aware and see if they still keep appearing first.
None of the registry keys are there, I searched for a random 4 or 5 of the other exes and none of them there except sta*.exe, no processes, no folders.
This PC just keeps getting sta*.exe files, which I assume would cause all the other crap to hit the fan if I ran any of them, (which I know...
Ok, only details I know is that its possibly TrojanDownloader.Win32.Swizzor
and the following directory
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Temp
constantly gets filled up with sta*.exe
where * is any sort of hexidecimal looking number. eg sta3C.exe or sta38F.exe
and...
Well, heres a slightly unexpected ending.
The 2nd refirbished model I got, after doing alittle bitch over the phone, about how unfair it is to get a monitor thats a piece of trash, way older than the one I paid for, after having only recently bought and hardly even used my one.
In any...
the interesting thing is.
Is there any possible reason (apart from pure dumb bad luck) that imediatly the older model I got has exactly the same, no image at all problem?
Like, has the power cable somehow got wierd and frying something (cant hear/smell a thing tho) or is there a self...
Replacement arrived.
Its a REV A00
It was manufactured november 2004.
The first thing I did, when the box arrived, was think, "this aint a new one is it"
Because the box was a different shape and size, the monitor "assembled" in a bunch of protective sheets, the vga cable it came with...
Well that was fun,
I decided to ring at like 10am. Auto phone services ask me to have that friggen number thing handy that I cant find, (and cant find it saying anywhere online where to find on any monitors)
Anyway, I decided after stalling at this for abit to just keep going anyway...
I wish I could say I had no problems, actually my monitor was perfect, no dead pixels, completly minimal backlight problems, the monitor kicked the pants off anything I've seen or used before.
A couple of days ago the image just dissapeared, almost like a loose wire just fell out or...
I got the 500 watt purely on the basis of me knowing I wont have to buy a new PSU when I get round to upgrading my PC.
Otherwise the 400 watt counterpart would have sufficed. Personally I like to know I got more than enough and will therefore wont have a worry in the world as far as my power...
I just got the enermax liberty 500watt. Finally somewhere in New Zealand supplies it, Its awesome.
I didn't have much prob with sata/pata being on same cables, it doesn't really get in the way, and ultimatly means less number of cables in the package. Tho I wouldn't use a sata/pata on one...
I rang 0800-446-255 and they said they're closed, and that office hours are 9am till 5pm. Monday~Friday
But seeming monday is a public holiday I have a feeling I need to wait another day, I'll try on monday anyway tho.
Bad luck on my part huh.
Double posting is fun....
Anyway, it seems the only way is via phone? Online asks for some service tag, which, I cant find, and their website doesn't explain where to find, so I assume for buying monitors there is none.
Which means I have to remember to ring them and hope its open on...
