I would stay away from 840 and 850 (they are newer and there are not enought feedback data yet, but it may be as bad as 840 I guess).. and the second thing..will you really find usage for 500Gb SSD?
It may be important if your HDD was in the moment of the read/write operation or in the standby mode when you dropped your laptop. If it was reading or writing something due to the fall impuls the HDD could "scratch" the surface and as a result you could have a data loss. Try some HDD test...
Factory cooling systems usually are poorly balanced and aren't as effective as custom loops. You will have more options if you will build the loop yourself with help of this forum, just take your time and ask few questions to know something you do not know yet.
I've got 4.5Ghz in same setup. For better results you will need to take off the headspreader top off the processor, but you will loose your warranty and may damage the CPU core, be carefull with this procedure
