Well, the connectors on SATA drives and mobos are much more fragile than on the PATA drives and ports. They could be an order of magnitude (10x) stronger with a simple change, but IDK if any of the HD companies do it. .bh.

No significant cooling thru the case. Several tests have been done on cases of the identical design: one in aluminum and one in steel (Chenming Dragon design, IIRC) and there was no significant difference with identical components. BTW, what did you choose OP? .bh.
