    haven't had the monitor you speak of (hp), but the dell 3011 uses picture-by-picture, not pip (as with the gateway 30") so far, so good w/the dell though

    thanks for the post woodboat...my xhd3000 just started showing the dreaded 'bands of impending doom' this weekend and rather than try the repair ($$$) route, i am looking at alternatives. will miss transparent pip from hdmi on my gateway though :(
