I've never personally owned a galaxy card but I like what i see from them, they have great better then reference designs with very nice cooling setups.
My Monster 3d Voodoo 1, I remember playing the 3d accelerated Mechwarrior, quake, and tomb raider and forgetting all about how cool the N64 was going to be. I pretty much lived in OpenGL Quakeworld for a while.
Second has to be my 8800gtx, that thing lasted forever and it's still kicking in...
Yeah, i guess they sorta have to bin them a bit to be able to sell it at higher clocks. It's not like FTW ed though where they totally have to cherry pick them. They probably do sell some of the cards that won't clock higher as normal ones, but I'm guessing not all of them were tested and failed...
I guess I may have posted a little too hastily. I'm reading now that the SC ed is just pre OC'd and not really speed binned. I think I'm going to go with my original plan and just get the normal one for 20 bucks less.
Are they worth while?
My GTX 280 is slowly dieing with the PSOD. I'm going to RMA it but i want to go ahead and get a 480 in the mean time.
I was looking at the EVGA standard verses the one step up SC
Due to speed binning will the lower rated card just never have a chance of good OC...
Is everything still instanced? thats what killed the game for me, everything else was pretty good but not having everybody in the same world was lame as hell, that's not really and MMO if you ask me.
Yeah there's always something new coming, but it sucks to buy right before the next thing comes out.
The rest of my system is fine, I7 920 @ 4ghz 12gb ram.
The only other thing that would be nice is an SSD, that's next.
Im running on air atm, would like to go water sometime though.
I am tempted by the 480 since it is a beast, part of me just says, get the 480 and who
cares how hot, loud, or power hungry it is, but then the more sensible part of me says
go for the more power efficient card. I still can't decide.
I've got about $500 saved up for a new card, been running my 280gtx since it came out. I still can't decide if i should go for a new card now or wait and see what
comes down the pipe.
Just about everything have runs great on the 280 still but there are a few games, Just cause 2 and metro in...
The drive is less then a year old, it's a WD 500gb blue. I did some more testing in another machine and the drive did have a few issues copying some of my files back off of it.
I was worried that I damaged my mobo somehow but it's looking like the drive is the culprit as I originally...
This morning i woke up to my pc sitting on a blank screen, it wouldn't wake out of monitor sleep mode, so i rebooted it. The computer posted fine and started loading windows, this is when i noticed a
problem. Normaly my pc will boot up and be on the windows welcome screen in about 30 seconds...
