I just realised that not only does the Gigabyte windforce version of the 290 have terrible reviews on newegg and just in general from google search, but my model is also a rev 1.0 which people have said to RMA instantly.
Think it's safe to say the card is the issue, I'm gonna request a new...
Gigabyte R290 - dead within a month, permanent artifacting
RMA'd it, got another one, worked fine for a week then started black screening and artifacting during games, about to take it back and wait another month + of having to use my old 6970
Not sure if this is indicative of anything, but this was GPU-Z right after the black screens and after killing the game via task manager, it locks at 100% load and all other specs you see there until the comp is restarted
New edit : I am now able to routinely recreate the flashing black screens...
Well H1Z1 currently does it, prior to that Payday 2 was doing it but forcing voltage via afterburner seemed to stop that, and I've had it twice in BF4, other then that I've played arma 2/3 for hours on end with no issue, WoW, shadow of mordor etc all run flawlessly
DDU is actually the one I just used, I just forgot the name and called it driver sweeper.
Just loaded up shadow of mordor and and put everything on ultra + aa and tesselation and what not and run a bunch of benchmarks, pretty much maxed the VRAM and what not, no issues at all though.
This...
Are these blackscreens people are getting just the game crashing? mine is continuous flickering of the screen, looks identical to what happens when you alt tab from full screen but with a more artifact nature
Did the full driver sweeper safe mode driver reinstall, no such luck unfortunately
Here is a screencap of MSI during the stuttering and ultimately before i had to close everything down, unfortunately nothing sticks out, note that the GPU does stay at 100% usage from the moment the game starts. also there were no fluctuations for the 20 mins I ran it before this happened
only...
Are there any benchmarks that can simulate large amounts of VRAM usage? or any means of watching the usage of it to see if going over X value causes artifacting or something? I suppose I could get a demanding games benchmark and use my 2560x1600 monitor and crank the settings up and see if that...
I am still currently under warranty, 3 months left thankfully. However if you send it away for repair or to be reviewed and it turns out the product is fine they send it back, invoicing you for the labour and shipping done, but more importantly it takes 40 days or so sometimes, and I really...
Hello all, I've been plagued with an issue with this 290 for a while, certain games cause my 290 to fail, and by this I mean after a while it will start black screening almost as if you're alt tabbing in and out of a full screen application continuously, almost like artifacting I guess. I am...
Alright update
I've got it to stay on but it almost seems it has to warm.up, it powers on and off about 4-5 times before it actually starts up, this is still a bit of a worry as the only reason I installed it was because of a large potential gpu and CPU upgrade / overclock
I haven't even had...

Guh stupid me I should have mentioned that, the current rig is working perfectly
P55-USB3
i5 750 @ stock
6970
4GB ram
Corsair 620 PSU
Everything works 100%, just switching over to the new PSU and this happens.. which is where i'm confused and was wondering if there was some sort of...
Hello guys, let me state my case quickly for you
I have an antec 1000w modular which was purchased over a year ago, I was deployed literally right at the time I bought it and was never able to install it! now that i'm home I've tried connecting it to my motherboard;
Gigabyte P55-USB3...
Tried with the P45 mobo - Worked on startup, I turned it off then turned it back on and it started doing similar problems
Tried hooking it up to my proper system once more (just 6 pin and 24) it powered up and stayed on, so I had some hope, but after adding the GPU it started to fail
So I think...
