Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I'm interested in the 8 port 19" models (EdgeRouter and EdgeRouter Pro).
Especially since pfSense 2.2 is probably going to be supported on these (and the other EdgeRouters).
Got the ethernet management port to work (which was actually embarrassingly easy).
Also, I found this: http://archive.openflow.org/wk/index.php/ImageSetup#The_Broadcom_Reference_Designs
Looks like the firmware can be transferred via TFTP.
Has anybody heard of OpenFlow? Or Indigo?
I think the...
Thanks for your answers!
I opened the switch up but failed to find a flash card.
There's an "add-on card" (or whatever you call it) that has the 2 RJ45 ports I mentioned in the OP and some memory. See pictures below.
Here's a full shot of the PCB (sorry for the bad quality)...
Hello!
I recently scored a used 10G/40G switch on eBay that I want to use for a 10GbE home network setup.
It's a Broadcom BCM956845KQ-02 with 18 QSFP ports on the front and 2 RJ45 ports (labeled RS232 and Ethernet) on the back.
It didn't come with any form of documentation and it seems...
Can someone explain what UEFI Ultra Fast Boot does exactly?
Why is it only supported with Windows 8 and not Windows 7 (assuming Win7 is installed in UEFI mode)?
Is there something special about the Win8 UEFI boot loader that's not in Win7's to enable this?
Sorry if this is a little offtopic, but I just received a 3 TB Hitachi HDD (HDS723030ALA640) I ordered last week.
It says "JUL-2011" on the front, which is the production date I suppose.
Should I be worried that the HDD is that "old"?
The 4 x 1.5 TB NAS is just one part of all the external storage that I'm using. It's pretty fragmented.
Oh and I wouldn't go straight to 20 x 3 TB, I'd probably start with 6 or 7 disks and expand when more space is required.
The reason why I want a 20ish bay solution is, that I want to be...
Hi.
I have a ~2 year old Kingston SSDNow V-Series 64 GB SSD in my HTPC build (running Win7 x64 SP1). Recently I had my HTPC freeze on me randomly and I didn't think much of it. Now it's freezing after a couple of minutes or so, haven't really tested it, maybe it's more like 15 mins...
Thanks for your answer.
I'm actually not really that concerned about the price. If the setup I want costs more, so be it.
What bothers me though, is that 4 TB drives are probably a little less safe than using 3 TB drives. Right? Or maybe I'm just a little too paranoid?
I won't be buying 48 disks, no. I will only buy as many disks at once as I require, and then update the array with new disks on-demand. I'll always keep a hot or cold spare though.
That's why security/safety of the data is my top priority (I know RAID is not a backup, but I can't afford 48...
Hello!
I'm currently using a software RAID consumer 4 bay NAS with 4 x 1.5 TB in RAID 5. Needless to say I ran out of space pretty soon, so I'm going to build a dedicated ~20-24 bay RAID6 storage server (w/ an Areca RAID HBA and maybe an HP SAS Expander) sometime next year.
I'm mainly...
