Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Enjoy. I'm loving mine. I still had an 8800GT in my desktop so it was interesting switching to a laptop that actually improved my fps. Definitely not what I was used to from laptops!
If you're looking at the Y510, you really should consider the Y50. The Y50 will perform better and run quieter than the Y510. I'm typing on it right now and it has totally replaced my desktop. Very quiet laptop given its performance and quite portable. I use it for work too because it looks...
One caution on the GS60 870M, some games will run so hot that it will throttle with out of the box settings. I'd only get the 870M version if you're ok with flashing the bios to undervolt it.
Be careful going with the gaming laptop resellers. Their return period is extremely short on many models and between RMA and shipping delays it could easily leave you with only 1 day to determine if you like the laptop.
If you're looking at 17 inch, I'd check out MSI GS70 or Asus G750JS. Both have some very good gaming laptops at that price/range.
The tradeoff is the MSI laptops are generally thinner and more portable while being quite noisy. Asus is thicker and bulkier but handles cooling very well so it'll...
My GS60 Pro just came in. Excellent looking and performing laptop.
Only knocks against it:
- Noisy fans while gaming
- Gaming Series text on the top
I figure I can work with the noise and put a sticker over the gaming series text so I can actually use it in a meeting without looking stupid.
Macbook Air is not for gaming. MacBook Pro would be well out of your price range if you want one for gaming, even then the performance is weak.
If you have to purchase immediately, take a look at the ASUS N550JK-DS71T. It's in stock at Amazon and has a good mix of size, performance and price...
You really can't compare build quality to an unreleased, unreviewed laptop. Given the price difference, I'd be shocked if the Y50 didn't seem to have noticeably cheaper build quality.
8800GT with E6750@2.66 (for now) . My monitor actually died the very day I got my new card in the mail. Crysis never graced it's screen.
I know I can run old games fine at full resolution/settings, but that is not going to be possible 1+ years down the road.
My Gateway monitor suddenly died yesterday - (2 year lifetime on a $600 monitor. Definitely gonna shop with them again.....not) and I've been looking at a replacement. The two monitors I am looking at are
Acer AL2216Wbd (22" TN)
DoubleSight DS-245W (24" S-PVA)
The main thing keeping me...
