Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
What version should I take? I will be adding a Nvidia Titan (PCIE3 x16, in x16 slot) to it, and a IBM ServeRaid 1015 (PCI2 x8, in x8 slot)
- SuperMicro X9SAE
- SuperMicro X9SAE-V
I feel that the non-V would be better.. but im not completely sure about this...
Hi,... I'm stopping with my business..and i had a nice xeon e3-1230v2 server with 32GB memory (ECC) and enough harddrives.
It was a whitebox for ESXi running various vm's.
The thing is, if I do not get another case/motherboard, I cannot really use it anymore at home. At the moment,.. I...
Hi,
After miles of exploration i've done so far, I have some questions left considering interconnecting servers.
So far, I've got a 1U NAS including a router and webserver,.. i want to interconnect the NAS with a future planned VD-workstation-server. I figured, having two desktop streaming...
Esxi 5.1,.
The topic is quite clear, but unfortunately doesn't give the solution.
The issue is a bit hard to get my head around.
The rdm method is that i added the lun storage. The 3tb drives give me 2.73 tb. When in console of esxi itself, i use the tools to direct the vdkm file to the...
RDM, sorry, that's the one :)
ssh to login into esxi console to 'hack' RDM on the onboard sata controller.
Not really too high end...it's a supermicro 1u barebone with a xeon e3-1230. hence the 1u is the actual problem.
the infiniband is something i want to use for interconnecting a...
Hi,..i've been busy all day trying to get my onboard controller to pass through my hard drives to ZFSGuru (or freenas..whatever works)
\the problem is.. it is an onboard raid controller. AS i already got my virtual machines on the same controller, i cannot passtrough the whole thing. To get...
True and totally right. CLI will be used for non-workstation OS like webserver, router etc.. I'm probably going for a simple RDP program rather than Citrix or VMware View, since I also need more management tools (citrix at least 3 servers... which is more machines nearly than I need to use RDP...
I found the best remote desktop software so far.. unfortunately not with a USB passtrough, but likely with microphone. which is not super nessacary.. but hey..
it's called Splashtop, and works for mac and windows.. so running it in workstation vm's, and has the ability to wake on lan, makes it...
Hi,.. i'm getting to my last research for the whole server and vm thing.
This issue is not specific for virtualized computing, but i see best fit in this part of the forum.
I've been researching for half a year and i guess i nearly got it all figured out.
There's only one thing that's...
Thanks for the replies. I think i should have to leave the idea of using a small SSD in my server. I really wanted to add another one for backup.. but unfortunately,.. i think i have to go with a normal 2"5 inch one.
Perhaps i will get that hammer out. In the end, everything will fit with a...
I think i've got the problem, i reply it here to help others out.
mSata / 1"8 SSD drives use 3,3V. Normally, a sata power cable shouldn't make it a problem. In the super micro barebone i've got, there's only a molex power supply for the drives. They run on either 12V or 5V.
By converting...
I am afraid it's something else. The previous mpcie(msata) adapter to sata also did the same twice. Now the microsata (for the 1"8 drive) is just a cable,.. but same problems.
Something destroys them... but really do not know why
To elaborate; they are not showing in bios... basically.. not showing in anything. Also in different machines. I should've tried it in another machine first to see if it was working then..
instead of an expensive 10Gb ethernet link..you can try also a Mellanox infiniband solution. The cable is a bit more expensive.. but also have a kind of fault tolerance/check on it. It works well between 2 computers. If it's more and you need a switch..then it will be very costly.
Infiniband...
