I much prefer glossy. Currently I have an Apple Cinema Display 27" (glossy). I want to upgrade to a 32" 4k display but sadly I may be in for a long wait if I wait for a glossy option.
I compared the monitors side by side and the AG were very different. I suppose the difference could have been smaller than I remember, and perhaps nowadays I would find both screens completely unacceptable. It was okay for me at the time. The U2711 never was, and believe me, I tried to like that...
Wrong. I've seen a bunch of newer AG and a lot of it is just about as bad as the U2711. The 30" I was referring to is the original 3007 from early 2006 and I can tell you the AG was nowhere near as horrendous as the U2711. I can only assume they used a less aggressive coating back then.
I'm not sure what you are trying to say. My point was that I think all AG coating is worse than no coating, yet I was willing to acknowledge that some coating isn't as bad as others. Have you actually seen both a 3007 and a U2711? The AG is very different and I would describe only one of them...
I'm never going back to AG-coated screens after getting an ACD 27". The gloss doesn't bother me. Horrible, fuzzy, sparkly AG noise screwing up the image, does. All you have to do with a glossy screen is take care of your lighting situation and you're set.
Now, I used to have an old Dell...
Same here, I won't make the mistake of buying grainy AG panels ever again. After getting the Apple 27", I'm realizing that glossy is the only way (for me). I have controlled lighting so the glare is a non-issue and the image is beautiful. I suppose I might consider a display with AG coating...
I have a sandy bridge 2500k and I have overclocked it to 4.5 GHz. My MOBO is ASRock P67 Extreme4. First of all, is there any way to completely disable speed stepping and turbo boost? I don't really mind that it's on, it seems like a useful feature, but when it's on and the cpu is just idling...
Thanks for the great review. I just pulled the trigger on this screen myself.
I'm curious, did you ever get your Xbox 360 hooked up to the ACD27" using the Atlona devices (or something else)? I would be interested in doing the same thing. It really blows that apple doesn't offer any inputs...
Dang... I was interested in the glossy 27" until I found out about the lack of inputs and a scaler. If someone would make a glossy screen with the exact features of the Dell U2711, it would be an absolute winner. *sigh*
Why is it so hard? Is this really such a niche market? I guess so...
Yes, I have just recently played Mirror's Edge (really awesome game btw) on my U2711 and the texts are indeed really fuzzy. I don't recall this being the case on my 3007WFP at 2560x1600 but I can't be sure, it was a couple of years ago. I don't think it ruins the game though, it's not really a...
^ Yeah, I'm aware of that but I am trying to figure out why I am so far behind other people's scores with identical system to mine. I found a score from someone with E6600 at the same clocks as me and their score is P3745. It really doesn't seem right.
What I notice the most is that my graphics...
Can someone give me some ideas as to what the reason could be for my low score?
I have GTX570 and my score is only P3202. I looked for other scores with people with identical components (same GPU, E6600 and 4GB of RAM) and my score is clearly too low.
I have my CPU clocked at 3150MHz and my...
I just got my U2711 (rev.A02) a few days ago. I got it for under €700 which is quite nice here in the Europe side of things where we always pay through our noses for technology... I got the display to replace my nearly 5 year old 3007WFP which is showing its age by now. The U2711 is...
