    New Build 8-pin 4-pin problem

Just happily unpacked my new stuff (Phenom II x3 2.8ghz, Gigabyte mobo, 4gb ram, GT220 1gb vid card) and I have an issue The Antec 430W motherboard only has a four pin ATX connector, the motherboard wants an 8 pin. Do I need a different motherboard, or can I just plug the 4 I have into my...

    Is my HDD dying again?

On friday my hard drive (Seagate 5400.2 120gb SATA 150 laptop drive) died, taking my data with it click-of-death style. Now (through Newegg) I have a WD 120gb drive. But I'm sitting here and every minute or so I hear the drive go *click-clock* just once. Normal? Or is my new drive soon to...

    Dual boot Windows/Linux questions

I used Ubuntu for a few months (actually it was Kubuntu, the KDE version of Ubuntu). Its a great OS for newbies/novices. To dual-boot, run a defrag on windows first! This is very important. Then shave about 10-15gb off of windows. Install Ubuntu on the 10-15gb you left aside.

    Really strange problem...help please

Tried all jumper settings, those aren't the issues. CD-ROM works fine. Both IDE channels work fine too. I've never been so stumped by a PC...any last ideas? is it the mobo?

    Really strange problem...help please

Giving India a call won't help, the system is past warranty I believe. I just tried booting the working hard drive again. XP boot takes ages. However it does boot. Are you sure it is the mobo. This is a customers computer, and I don't want to tell her that she basically needs a new PC if I don't...

    Really strange problem...help please

I've replaced the IDE cable, and I've cleared CMOS. Same problems. Regardless of checking the drive via UBCD...this happens with TWO drives, for no apparent reason. Could the mobo be shot? Why would two hdd's have extremely slow install times?

    Really strange problem...help please

This problem gets stranger by the moment. I'm fixing a PC that was loaded with spyware and viruses (its not my PC btw). I was unable to fully clean it, so I went for a format. After low-level quick format (write boot sector to 0's) and windows install...things get weird. Windows install is...

    12V to 9V question

The kit has 25 LED's. It has 2 IC's. Also there are 12 resistors, 4 capacitors, and 7 transistors. Any guess on what type of resistor I'd need to limit the power, and how id hook it up?

    12V to 9V question

I recently built a sound-activated LED kit that runs on a 9V battery. It would look frickin sweet inside my case, so my question is: Can I hook up the 12V and ground leads from a molex connector to the negative, positive leads on the 9V battery hookup respectively, to run this? I know I'd...

    Project: System*3

Actually believe it or not, it isnt much of a squeeze. The with of the long rectangle on the right fits the psu perfectly. It rests in there with no problem, ill just have to secure it down. The hdd fits 95% well in the same area. I might need to rig something to get it to not rock back and...

    Project: System*3

This is my first post, I'll try to make it good. :) I just upgraded my little bro's old compaq...and I have all these extra parts lying around. Then I saw the box...and old black box that was built to hold a SNES. On the front of the box it says 'System*3', hence the name of the project...
