Hey everyone.
I spent the last week or so diagnosing a motherboard issue that caused me to lose the use of my second GTX 780 because of a faulty PCI slot. This showed me how weak a single 780 really is in regards to 4K gaming on modern games. So, I decided that I would like to upgrade to one...
No. don't be sorry! You did your best to help me out and save me some money. I very much appreciate everyone's ideas and assistance!
On a side note..... I need a z97 board if anyone has one :)
Ran this program a few times and it passed with no issues.
I went through these steps and reset the cmos. No change in my issue. I'm gonna assume that the second PCI slot is done for.
Both cards work perfectly in the first slot with no issue. Neither card works alone in second slot. Guess I will just look for a used Z97 board to get me through till I can afford to dump $700 on a new cpu/mobo/ram combo. I very much appreciate all of the help.
In regards to the cmos battery...
Oddly, I just checked Nvidia control panel and noticed that it is no longer detecting the second card and the SLI menu is missing. I reset the PC and installed drivers with no change. I aam currently running through your steps above. Thank you!
Everything settings wise is enabled correctly. Ive ran this setup for a few years now and I know which games use SLi. After doing the above mentioned trouble shooting, I still am unable to get any usage out of the second PCI slot. Again, both cards work independently if switched to the first...
Hey everyone! Been out of the PC hobby for a bit, but started having some issues with my dated build.
I’m running an Asus Z97 Deluxe board with two GTX 780s. A few months ago, I noticed my second card wasn’t being used. So, I went through my settings and ensured it wasn’t something simple...
I run SLI 780s and see dips down to the 30 FPS area in gun fights. I have PhysX on high and every other setting maxed at 2560x1600. Kinda annoying. Did you find a fix?
I am going to upgrade to a 4930k and am trying to find a motherboard that has the most space between the PCI-E slots so that my top MSI 780 Lightning can get a bit more air. Also, what mainboards allow you to run the second card in any slot at x16??
