Experiences with Western Digital RED 8TB WD80EFZX

Hello, does anybody here use already the new Western Digital 8TB WD80EFZX RED NAS drives in his rack and can tell something about noise and typical throughput? As this drive is using helium, does this have any positive or negative impact to the drives potentially in longer term? Currently I'm...

Did someone already use this motherboard under Linux with graphical desktop and knows if the MCDP2800 Chip is also recognized and supported? So can you use HDIM 2.0 under Linux and bring 4K Resolution to the monitor device via Onboard Intel IGP chip?

Hello, I'm wondering if TCPIP over Thunderbolt is already that much stable and operational, that it would establish a stable and reliable network connection between two computers? Could it be done by using ASUS ThunderboltEX II cards in two computers, running with latest thunderbolt...

    New Samsung 4k for everyone.

One quick additonal question, were you also happy with the desktop elements and font displaying? I'm asking, because once I had the Philips BDM4065 and when beeing away 80cm from screen, you could still see the pixel grod of the VA panel. I know, Samsung has IPS, so I'm wondering, if it can deal...

Recommendation for 5.25" Backplane with 4 or 5 Slots

Okay, this weekened I finally found time to assemble the CSE-M35TQB into my new case together with the LSI 9361-8i. In principle it works fine, some details I still have to figure out. I bought the Kit of LSI 9361. So cables were in the box and the look pretty solid. Connecting was easy...

Recommendation for 5.25" Backplane with 4 or 5 Slots

Well, I did order this evening the Supermicro CSE-M35TQB. Will take some days for delivery and I'm preparing myself to replace the fan also, but from the hardware characteristics it looked great. Will report here, once received and built into my case.

Recommendation for 5.25" Backplane with 4 or 5 Slots

In our region we can get the CSE-M35TQB for approx 120.00€. Main difference between CSE-M35TQB and CSE-M35T-1B seems to be the LED for Drive failures, that the TQB has built in.

Recommendation for 5.25" Backplane with 4 or 5 Slots

Thanks for your suggestion, I checked reviews for this backplane and sounds promising. Will now watch out for local resellers. BUT, I read on newegg multiple times about slow downs of data transfer spped when multiple drives are in the bays!? Is this a common issue of this backplane model or...

Recommendation for 5.25" Backplane with 4 or 5 Slots

Hello, I'm currently assembling my next workstation. Part of it shall be 5.25" SATA backplanes that I want to attach to an LSI 9361 raid card. Which backplanes are currently recommendable? Norco 500 are not easy to get in my region here. My current favorit is the Icy Dock MB454SPF-B, but...

Workstation case with 8 x 5.25" external bays or more

Unfortunately both offer support for ATX only. BTW: The SC743TQ-865B-SQ from supermicro does not look bad, but I have great concerns about noise levels and expandability. But the case characteristics comes closer to what I seek.
