Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
XFX, DOUBLE LIFETIME warranty.
lifetime for YOU and the next person you chose to sell it to.
go with the XFX, for whatever the price. I paid $309 i think for mine. So what, i "may" have paid $20-40 more, but i have a sickass video card.
39C idle, 57C load MAX. games are insanely rich:D
mature as in, the drivers will shut off your fan, and destroy your graphics card, like some of nvidia's recent "drivers"
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/05/nvidia-pulls-196-75-driver-amid-reports-its-frying-graphics-car/
there was a bad batch of nvidia drivers prior to the ones out.
a buddy told me APPARENTLY the drivers would shut off the GPU fan, and kill it.
MAYBE, you had those, and ure fan shut off and overheated??? or maybe because those drivers were bad, they just don't work for you?
i did almost the same thing you are doing today. went from a machine that had a 8800gts and installed a XFX5850
I think there is POSSIBLY something to be said about whether XP will just use some "default" drivers and WORK, or if it is trying to still use the nvidia drivers for your ATI card...
the drivers shouldn't affect ANYTHING.
ok, i had the EXACT same issue as you.
my solution. I have Vista x64. When i got to the "Windows Error Recovery" screen i chose "use the last settings that worked"
BAM! My machine is running fine. I uninstalled nvidia drivers, and then downloaded...
