good guide, and ill take more of a look at it later... but what im getting at is just general soundcard options that might make it sound better. if someone has this card and has experience with it, that would be fantastic... but if not just settings in AmaroK or Rhythmbox... what people prefer...
i was wondering if anyone here is acquainted with linux enough to give their soundcard a little TLC and make it sound good with alsa/audio apps etc. i have a RME DIGI 8/96 Pad and was wondering what I could do to get a little more clarity out of it, whether thats using the xine engine for alsa...

as far as the TCCD, i have 2 256mb sticks of BH5 mushkin but at around 180 on newegg the other day... i couldnt resist the TCCD and got that instead of some G.Skill that was equally priced with BH5.

Its finals week and I am in the process of trying to kill some time and decided to tinker with my machine. The specs are a 3400+ Clawhammer, 2 256mb Mushkin BH5 DDR400, 9800NP, 2x SATA Raptors, 2x IDE 160GB and 1x IDE 200GB. I know that SATA ports 1 and 2 are unlocked so I put the raptors on...
after installing ALSA, it was able to pick up on the card being an EMU APS but after toying with XMMS and the different volume settings, no luck.
any success/advice stories would be much appreciated :)
i was wondering if anyone has ever gotten one of the Creative EMU 1212M pro-audio cards working in linux.
i know creative hasn't released a linux driver but since it is heavily based off of the emu10k1/2 chip with the additional E-DSP chip but it would be real nice if i could get this to work...
