    4870 screen size not right, doesn't show native resolution

    CCC display manager and check if the refresh is at 60hz. If it's at 75hz change it to 60hz then select the resolution drop down selection and you should see 1920x1080. Go to DTV and Scaling options and set the slider to 0% overscan.

    I will have to guess dead ram also. Dead ram=no post,no fan spinning. Those were the symptoms when 1 ocz ram died on me.

    fsb:dram:ratio=FSB strap to Northbridge. Disable all the crap you don't need especially the tab with all the speedstep/C1E. Crank that sucker to 4ghz:D

    Cancel your 512mb 4870 and get the 1gb version and stick with the 30+ LCD. Once you've tried anything 30' you never wanna try any 24-20' monitors.:D

    Upgrade you ram to 2gb, get one with an infineon ce-6/samsung uccc ic on it and oc your cpu to 2.8Ghz-3.0Ghz. That should take care of that card. Hence, upgrading your ram from 1gb to 2gb already gives you a nice boost. Just make sure to run your games at high res w/ full eye candy though:D

    Can you check task manager and see which service is running 20% cpu usage? Make sure you have .net 2.0 with patches before you install the card.

    Set your fan speed with rivatuner at 80% and have some fan blowing at the back of the card. See if that stop the crashes that you're getting.
