    I had the same problem last year with XP, and I also had Norton AV 2003. After one of the updates that problem started. Uninstalled Norton, problem went away. After that I have never used Norton again.

    Yeah the cost was what turns me off from Ghost. Our company is looking for a restore solution for the few computers we sell, so basically we are looking for something cheap and effective :)

    If it was hit by lightning tell him to call his insurance company, get them to cut a check for replacement value of the system and buy a new one and move on. I've fixed too many lightning struck computers only to have them come back a month or 2 later with wierd issues or other components dying...

    I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen a switch that can be controlled by software in Windows. Basically I would want it to have the lights on the front of my case, the cathodes inside,etc... hooked up to it, and then in Windows you can choose which ones to turn on or off. Anything like this...
