So I just got my MSI X79MA-GD45 back from RMA and decided to pair it with my i7 3960X and a PNY GTX 970. Problem is it will not POST.
I know for sure that neither the card or the mobo is bad because the mobo POST with my old Quadro card and the card POST in my HTPC. It's the combination of...
Short version: can I? I have a 3960X that requires a BIOS update before it can POST.
Long version: if anyone can point me to a direction in which I can have my BIOS updated it would be appreciated... I am thinking of ordering a CPU from Amazon just to update the BIOS and then return it. Or if...
I cam across something like this on ebay once. It was a GTX 680 for $50 and even included a GPU-Z shot that showed the correct name of the GPU :o but the clock speed and memory bus were dead giveaways. Must be a Chinese BIOS mod somehow.
This is true, coil whine happens when the card runs at too high FPS. I was running 3DMark03 on my 970 and when it hits 3k fps or so it cried like a little bitch :D I was afraid it was going to blow lol
You would expect a card with such a gigantic cooler overclock well :D Judging by the core speed you're at, this card must have a raised TDP doesn't it? I have trouble overclocking my PNY GTX 970 past 1550, it always throttle down around that point due to lack of TDP.
I prefer the MX-4, cheaper (I got a 4g tube for $8 shipped, which should last a long time) and non-toxic. That said, you can't go wrong with either, the difference should be a degree celcius the most.
I've had less than ideal experience with Corsair refurb SSDs. To be honest they're not known for SSD quality anyway, but I would be careful buying a refurb PSU from them.
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/galax-adds-geforce-gtx-970-oc-gamer-edition.html New card by Galax, looks interesting enough. Might be a little bit longer than ITX standard but it got dual fan so that may means less heat and noise. Any thoughts guys?
