Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks for that. So, excusing my ignorance again...
I would then need 4 "Mini SAS x4 (SFF-8087) to x4 (SFF-8087) Mini SAS" cables, like the ones here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816103195&cm_re=sff_8087-_-16-103-195-_-Product
That would suffice for 16 or the 20...
I'm starting a new build... I haven't decided on the Operating System yet... but it'll likely be OpenFiler or WHS.
NewEgg is giving a free MB with the Norco 4220 and I've got an unused Intel Q8200 at home. I'm also sitting on a cache of about 7 or 8 Terabytes of SATA disks that I'll use...
I'm looking for a RAID card myself, and have found this thread to be helpful.
I have heard that if I want RAID 5, I really need to have a board with the hardware XOR engine.
If that is true, then if I want RAID 5, it seems that that Dougs solution may be better for me.
Correct?
