Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Wow, I just fired up my laptop to answer those questions... and guess what, the internet works now without my changing anything. That's weird because I've tried on multiple occasions in the past month or so and it never worked.
But thanks anyway for taking the time to help :).
Ok, so this is probably an extremely newbie problem but it's really getting on my nerves:
On my primary computer (desktop), the internet works fine, but on my laptop, I can't connect to the internet even though I can access folders from my desktop on it (so the network is certainly...
Thanks for the help! I ended up buying a new antivirus just to make sure. To answer your questions:
I scanned my computer with the new antivirus, and it found and cleared up 1 issue, but it didn't seem like a big one. I also cleared up some spyware, but after the antivirus/spyware, WC3 still...
I've been on the exact same setup for over a year now (E6400, ATI 1800XT, etc, let me know if more details are necessary). The only game I play consistently is WC3, which clearly isn't very demanding, although I occasionally dabble in some other games like COD4.
This setup has been running...
I'm currently using a non-OCed E6400 @ 2.13ghz. My main use for my computer is online poker, and I tend to run multiple cpu-intensive programs at once for this, so my CPU usage usually hovers around 30-100%.
Will I notice a significant difference in performance if I upgrade to quad core?
I just came back from a one month trip to China, and I booted my computer to find a weird problem: my secondary monitor works perfectly for the first 45 seconds or so after I boot, then goes blank. It works during the boot/windows load screen, then turns black about 15 seconds after Windows...
Thanks for the help. I did everything you suggested, but the video still wouldn't play. Finally, I re-installed/updated (might have already been up to date) Direct X and that fixed my issues. I really don't see why Direct X would cause video playback, which was previously working fine, to all of...
I've been using the combo of ffdshow + MPC and this has worked perfectly for as long as I can remember. But today all of a sudden, without changing a single thing on my computer, I can no longer view video! When I open a video file, sounds play as they should, but the player window remains...
Thanks, I'll try that.
Hmm, can I still burn the files onto a CD if I can't get into my OS? I think I'll try the Knoppix solution suggested by Danny.
Thanks for the help guys!
I'm assuming that if I were to use another system, it would have to be AMD? Doesn't even matter though, since there aren't any other systems I can use.
I have 2 hard drives but I don't have access to any desktops. I have a laptop I can use, but I don't see how that could help.
All I need to do...
Title says it all. I'm switching from an AMD PSU/motherboard to Intel, but I'm using the same hard drives without reformatting. Will everything work fine? Can I install all the Intel components, then afterwards uninstall the AMD drivers?
I'd like to get some high quality, reliable RAM for my Core 2 Duo setup, and budget isn't much of a concern (I'm willing to spend up to $300) although I'd of course like to save money rather than pay extra for what I don't need.
I was looking at the Firestix which get great reviews here, but...
I tend to buy components that are high quality, and thus my computer parts are generally capable of overclocking. Still, I don't overclock because I feel like I won't notice any advantages given what I do on the computer.
I spend a lot of time on the computer, but I'm usually just surfing the...
Well guys, thanks a ton for the replies/help, but I'm giving up on this mobo/CPU. It seems too much trouble to figure out what's wrong, so I'm just going to take this opportunity to upgrade to Core 2 Duo.
Unfortunately, since I never fixed my setup, the $20 isn't going to anyone. But thanks...
