    visiontek 3870 questions

I just bought the one on sale at Best Buy. Initially I thought it was a great deal, but now I know why. It suffered from lockups in all games. My guess was heat, as the fan never spun up. I used rivatuner to up the fan speed, that kept it in the mid 60c range upon exiting the game. I just...

My brother-in-law hit the comp usa yesterday and was hell bent on buying as much hardware as he could, to build a new system. He's not up on hardware at all. But he did pick up an 8800gts oc for $400. He heard it was the best. where he heard that, i don't know. I wouldn't of paid their prices...

TV-OUT not working in Vista using ATI Radeon 9600

There is no driver support for that feature in Vista. That would be my guess. I'm still waiting too. I haven't gotten it to work yet on the garage computer.

The cell as a co-processor would be good on a board though.

MCE 2005 & other PVR software

It was a combination of 2 problems. 1. The codecs possibly. 2. This seems to be the more important one, the IRQ sharing. I think I'll need to disable ACPI also. I haven't messed around with IRQ's sin the Windows ME days. This should be fun.

MCE 2005 & other PVR software

As far as my splitters, the line comes in and is split into 2 lines. One for house tv, one for computer room. At computer room it goes into a 4-way splitter for the cable modem and the computer tv lines. I got the splitters from the cable guy when I lived at my old house. He just billed the...

MCE 2005 & other PVR software

While the picture improved after installing Power Cinema 5 and setting MCE2005 to use th PC5 codecs, the picture was better but still poor. So, I switched the card to the next slot up to change it's IRQ, and it seems to be working well with the new IRQ. Now it is sharing an IRQ with my 1394...

MCE 2005 & other PVR software

Here's the question. Why can't anybody make a pvr program that works properly with an PVR-500 mce? They all have problems with the decoders, it seems no matter which decoders I use. The programs do not produce a clear picture. The lower channels are static filled. The only program that I...

    Catalyst Media Center

Catalyst Media Center should be able to. PowerCinema 5 can. I tried the trial version and it worked flawlessly with my aiw and PVR-500 mce. I could watch and record all three tv sources at once.

    Catalyst Media Center

I know that they are the best out there. I just want something that is more visually appealing if I have to look at it every day. I have BTV. I just don't have the time or energy to explain everything to the spouse. She's fussy. I ordered MCE2005, so it should be something that she can handle...

    Catalyst Media Center

Sage tv and Beyond tv just feel like unpolished turds to me. I'm seriously thinking about just ordering MCE2005 with the Vista upgrade coupon.
