Troubleshooting occasional lockups - hardware failure?

Don't have a multimeter. Guess it's time to exploit the Frys return policy.

Troubleshooting occasional lockups - hardware failure?

Yeah, for about 5-6 hours. Should I go for longer?

Troubleshooting occasional lockups - hardware failure?

Unfortunately I don't have another PC to test them in. I could try to reset CMOS, but I haven't changed anything recently (aside from switching to AHCI for my SSD - but the problem was occuring before that.) I believe this is my PSU -...

Troubleshooting occasional lockups - hardware failure?

I've been having an issue for the past couple months with my rig. The computer runs fine until the OS has been running for a while (~ 1-2 days, INCLUDING sleeps), then it'll either completely lock up to the point that I have to disconnect power, or it will constantly freeze for a moment every...

single gtx 460 stutter and excessive screen tear

I've no need to be running 2 clients at once, and I won't be rocking ultra shadows. I don't know if you play WoW, but ultra shadows pretty much kill any system that isn't very high end. While playing WoW at high shadows I rarely go above 600mb(Everything else maxed with 4xaa) EDIT: I'm sure...

You know, I actually tried this :P, it didn't change anything unfortunately.

single gtx 460 stutter and excessive screen tear

It happens at all resolutions. While it may be a problem with the VRAM itself, the amount isn't the issue. League of Legends and World of Warcraft definitely don't use more than 700mb, even at 1920x1080 res. (league doesn't use much more than 3-400 completely maxed at 1080)

Hmm, that's odd, I haven't had a BSOD, and have only had CTDs in World of Warcraft when changing quality settings and resolution at the same time(WoW gives a fatal error report, not really a CTD o_O)

single gtx 460 stutter and excessive screen tear

Well, I can get to the point where it uses the generic OS drivers, and won't load 3d applications. From there, I install the forceware drivers, and Afterburner recognizes the currently installed driver. It's weird - before it installs the generic driver and sits at 640x480 you can even see...

single gtx 460 stutter and excessive screen tear

Left DPC latency running, not sure when it happened but the maximum latency is now at 513. It doesn't seem to be staying anywhere near there, so I don't think that's an issue, but it seems weird that it's spiking so far beyond the average.

huh, so did you try the "clean install" within the driver installer or driversweeper before manually deleting files? I'll give this a shot.

single gtx 460 stutter and excessive screen tear

No other system to try it in unfortunately. Temps are on the high side with auto fan, with 100% fan they're acceptable. I wonder if I could find a computer store that'd let me test my gpu in their system. Doubt it :\ Anyway, thanks for the help, RMAing this is gonna suck, haven't heard great...

Newest chipset drivers, same happens with the HDMI and the DVI outputs. Anything else to try before the RMA? Whether there is or not, thanks for all the help! EDIT: The DPC latency maximum is now 265, is this still acceptable?

single gtx 460 stutter and excessive screen tear

It's moving between 80 and ~105, with it shooting to 127 once, and again to 137(absolute maximum) GPU useage is 100% in all games aside from WoW, which seems to only utilize 50-60%ish with shadows on high, everything else maxed with 4xaa

single gtx 460 stutter and excessive screen tear

3.4 ghz stock. Tried with 3.6 and it doesn't seem to change anything. World of Warcraft, League of Legends, pretty much any game I play. I notice the stutter mostly in WoW and LoL, whereas I don't notice any stuttering in Just Cause 2, but there's still quite a bit of tearing.
