Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
When you say blow up, you mean an actual mini-explosion inside the PSU? Did it take any other hardware with it?
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Unfortunately no dog here, but the cats don't seem to mind the noise yet. Taking off the covers, dusting, and new fans sounds like the plan.
I've not used that mouse before but what you describe is definitely not normal. Usually laser mice will work on most surfaces except glass. Is the sensor on the bottom clean and unobstructed? Other than that I can't think of any other remedial actions that it would be worth it for you to take...
Coming up on 6 years ago I built a couple of boxes using a 600W Enermax Noisetaker and a Seasonic S12-600W. Both have performed flawlessly through several upgrades and are still in daily operation driving overclocked systems.
But the time has come again for an upgrade, at least to one of the...
I know the 5870 uses only 10w-15w more than an 8800GTX. How much more than a GTS I do not know. Give it a shot with your current PSU and if you have problems look to your PSU first.
Simple but good advice. Just last week I rebooted to get the same error as the OP....checking the BIOS showed that somehow the designated boot drive got changed during the reboot. I switched it back and all was well. YMMV. Good luck.
Yeah, my full install of Vista Ultimate with Media Center comes to ~25 GB! But I used Vlite to remove language packs, Media Center, Windows games, drivers, set no Hibernation, etc., and have it down to a still bloated but I think workable 15-18 GB depending on what I keep.
And I hear you...
Thanks for the link coo-coo. I like the idea of moving the profiles to a magnetic drive so browser cache and temp files are off the SSD. But I definitely want my games and most demanding apps on an SSD, and I generally try to avoid more than one partition on a drive unless I need something...
For years I have been using 3 drives in my systems, 1 for OS, 1 for Apps, and 1 for Docs and Page File.
Does one see the same benefits when using SSD drives? Or does the increased SDD performance obviate dividing functions by drive?
I am going to take the SSD plunge with about $350...
Yeah, I've been reading about that one the past couple of months in Computer Gaming World now Games for Windows Magazine. Its a great concept they stumbled on playtesting another game, and the idea of having killed players take on the part of 'infected' zombies to go after the still 'living'...
Well, its not under $100, but I just got a black Ergotron LX deskmount from Amazon.com for $121 total, free shipping and no sales tax. It holds my Samsung 22" wide no problems after following the included adjustment instructions. It pivots 100 degrees landscape to portrait, also pivots forward...
