I'm very VERY happy with my Asus P5Q Pro and Asus HD4850. Like everybody says, you can always run 2 HD4850's in Crossfire if you get a larger monitor or if you want a bigger 3dMark score.
Did you bother to Google for a solution to the heat issue? It's a very easy fix with ATI Catalyst Control Center.
I'd say the 4850 is the best bang for the buck card you can buy.
Or Google "set 4850 fan speed" and set it to run at a reasonable speed in the ATI Catalyst Control Center profile. I keep mine at 60 percent and it's not bad... it will work until I get an aftermarket cooling solution.
Google ATI Catalyst 8.7 Beta... I personally have better results with these drivers than with the "hotfix" drivers.
Make sure you get ALL the old ATI stuff off first.
14282 3DMarks on Q6600 @ 3.2 Ghz and 4850 @ 700Mhz GPU and 1175 memory.
I gotta get rid of this stock cooler on the 4850. It's stable at those clocks in everything but FurMark with the fan speed set to 70 percent, but I just can't take the hair dryer sound the little cooling fan makes when...
I have the Asus 4850.
Got the fan speed turned up to 70 percent, sounds like a hair dryer but it cut my idle temperatures in half, and my load temperatures almost in half... I saw 101 degrees under load at one point before I upped the fan speed.
I did a quick OC with the ATI tool last...
I'd keep the Asus motherboard and videocard by the way... NewEgg still has a 30.00 bundle rebate I believe.
I'd look at the Corsair PSU mentioned, or a PC Power & Cooling.
Pretty close to what I just built...
I'd go with a Q6600, I'm quite pleased with mine.
Samsung might be the most recommended burner here, but if you are concerned about getting the best quality out of your rips and burns I'd go with a Pioneer.
I've been ready to order my new build for a week, and I'm stuck.
Somebody sell me on a motherboard. I want stability, overclockability, PCIE 2, and some SATA ports on the back would be nice.
I simply can't decide on a board.
Am I making any mistakes, I'm about to spend the $...
This PC will be used for general purposes i.e. Web Browsing and backing up DVD's and CD's, some gaming (COD4 and Battlefield 2142,) and as a "tech bench."
I do plan to overclock the Q6600, and I'm searching for a Coolink GFXChilla for...
