Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
That's good ram as well, but i have not used G.Skill myself, but I have put them in builds for others. I'd still say go with Dom's. They're known to be some of the best overclocking RAM out there and you'll have a better chance of getting a good pair that will overclock well. If I recall...
I'm a huge fan of the 4850. Got mine recently. Plays TF2 and Eve as 1920x1080 with everything cranked up perfectly. Plays Gears of War at 1280x720 with everything cranked plus DX10 great as well. Haven't ran FRAPS in most games to see what I'm getting, but I get around 60FPS in EVE. Great card...
Are you overclocking or just gaming?
I've used the Dominators in my previous build, huge fan of them. Overclocked like champs for me.
If you aren't, I'd still say go with the dom's. I'm bias though, never been a huge fan of OCZ, haven't used them since DDR-400 days.
I'd go with at least 1600 personally.
1333 performs as well as low latency ddr2-800 and 1066 in games. 1600 will give you a boost from the get go. Going with someone like Crucial and getting their Ballistix you'll have a better chance and getting a nice overclock on your proc and ram.
Q9650 to $316? Wow.
18 months huh? That's good to hear.
Bringing even more great performance at a really, really, really low price. 3GHZ quad core for just over $300.
I'm not sure how fast they generally phase at the last generation of processors. With the Core i7's just coming out and Intel coming out with another chipset with other cpu's available for it, any timeline on how much longer those of us looking to stick with 775 will be around for? Would like to...
QFT. Always always fresh install. Might as well. Only takes a short amount of time with todays hardware, and you should be backing up your important files anyway.
It makes life a lot easier with the motherboard out. Like what's been stated, you always want to be grounded. You can do this buy using an anti-static mat, wrist band, or putting on of your hands on the case.
For the first time install, especially using the stock heatsink or just one with...
I think the Windows scoring is a complete failure of a somewhat good idea. If it worked it would be nice for the none-techie to be able to look at a game to see if their system could run it. I don't think it's nearly comprehensive enough,
When I had my Q6600, even at stock, it scored a 5.9...
Ha, don't think we'll see the day for that to happen.
But when that smack talking between Nvidia and Intel awhile back when a guy from Nvidia said CPU's won't be needed someday and Intel came out with the Core i7's with them being able to run some games as well as modern day mobile on board...
When did you buy your Q6600? The only reason I ask is because if you bought it a year ago or so, it might be a B3. They ran a lot hotter and don't OC as well as G0 stepping.
Taking up all 4 DIMM slots might also have something to do with it. I don't recall exactly why, but for some reason I...
