I always download the latest WHQL drivers from the chipset manu & burn them to CD BEFORE attempting an install. The amount of times I've been burnt by mobo manus drivers is insane.
A great little machine, ATM I'm using Panther not Tiger (my mini came with both). Panther simply feels more polished right now, saying that though Apple actually sorts out most of the rough edges. I by proxy witnessed the polishing of Panther due to my GF having a PowerBook, I'm sure Tiger will...
After a long debate with my self I've decided on the bulk of my watercooling system, it's mostly innovatek to keep things simple & no changes in ID or OD. To list it is this:
Konvekt-O-Matic maxi
Konvekt-O-Matic booster kit (maybe)
Tank-O-Matic micro
Graph-O-Matic (45 deg connection)...
I've 'solved' CPUs running too hot with Arctic Silver before now with just clearing all traces of AS, lobbing a decent chewing gum pad TIM and installing HSF as normal. Personally I never directly apply AS to the core, but use a credit-card as a 'mixing' base to get just a touch on a small putty...
No nVidia wins when ATi quits the high-performance GPU market or goes bankrupt, I very much doubt that you'll find two companies developing different products to do the same job will be exactly in-sync with each other at every step. If ATi can't identify that they haven't got the most powerful...
Tesla, what are your temps like? I can't really keep mine down under load, oft I'm leaving a game with CPU & GPU temp in the high 60s. However at idle with Cool n' Quiet disabled he CPU is in the mid 30s and the GPU is in the 40C area.
Motherboard: MSI RS480M2-IL
Graphics card: HIS Radeon X800XL
Problem: when Cool 'n' quite is enabled I get loads of random BSODs when at the desktop (always graphics driver), under load not much of a problem, just every now and then the system freezes (I think this though is a thermal thing).
Thank you, these are the kinda numbers I'm looking for, ATM I think anything is going to be an improvement over my current temps (both CPU & GPU heading off to 70C with ease), though I know how to lower these temps it's not exactly simple with my motherboard.
Yeah to exactly room temperature as...
Okay, as I've got totally screwed over by a supplier (not supplying a mobo they promised to get) I'm back with the ATi chipsets again. So here's the first problem, I'm using windows 2000 here, and even with the installer formating with blank 200GB DimondMax9 8MBs the SATA drive has taken an hour...
