Sorry to revive a two-month-old thread, but I actually have the exact experience OP was looking for. I went from an i3 2120 (roughly equivalent to an i3 3220) to an i5 3570.
On some heavily threaded games (e.g. Blacklight Retribution, BF3) it was a night-and-day difference. It is SO much more...
I checked my bus speed and they are indeed working at PCI-E 2.0 16x and 4x respectively.
When I disable crossfire, I get the same framerate. If it's a CPU bottleneck, that would imply that an i3 2120 is incapable of pushing more GPU than a single 7770.
Unfortunately, can't overclock even the bclock on this motherboard. I've checked per-thread CPU utilization with Process Monitor and the highest thread tops out at 20%, which means it's only using 80% of one core. So I doubt it's a CPU bottleneck?
Pretty much every recent game... for example, Saints Row the Third, Dirt Showdown, Hitman Absolution....
I know that Crossfire doesn't scale 100% in every game, but it's barely even trying in any game. Heaven 3.0 brings it to 100%.
Specs are in my sig. I realize that 7770 crossfire is not a good idea in general, but I've been chasing this issue around forever. I'm running the 13.4 drivers and the latest CAPS.
GPU usage is 50%-60% in most games at 1920x1080.
GPU usage is 100% in indoor environments, or when looking at the...
I am using a 7770 Crossfire setup but I'm having some issues. I am using the 12.11 beta drivers with Crossfire Application Profiles installed.
I know Crossfire is working because I get 99% GPU usage on both cards in 3Dmark11 and 85% usage in Heaven 3.0, and my scores are doubled. However, in...
I've noticed that at idle my 7770 (XFX) does clock down the core to 300mHz at the desktop, but the memory is pegged at 1150mHz (supposed to be 300mHz) and the voltage sticks at 1.0V (should be 0.85V). I'm using dual monitors.
Is there any way to get the memory clock and voltage to be correct...
I have a small amount of data (10-15GB) on my main machine which I'd like to back up to my NAS drive. I'm looking for software that:
is free
can schedule the backups
is capable of encrypting the data (in case someone breaks in and grabs the storage drive)
Can anybody recommend a...
I'm looking to replace a 550ti with something a little cooler and quieter. I hear that the Asus DirectCu 7770 is very quiet. What about the XFX 7770 Double D? If they are the same price, should I go with the XFX for the dual fans? My main concern is noise at idle.
I am running an i3 2120. With the stock cooler I was getting 34 degrees idle and 64 max load. (ambient 22 degrees with decent case ventilation).
I upgraded to a Hyper 212 Plus just for the fun of it, and it must be working because my load temp fell to 52. However, my idle temp jumped to 37...
