Time to upgrade, which Z87 mobo to get?

Good point regarding the phases, especially considering how hot Haswell runs under OC. Is there much difference between the UD3H, UD4H and UD5H apart from colours? I can't seem to see any difference in the specs on their website.

Time to upgrade, which Z87 mobo to get?

I'm finally going to move on from my X58 build after 5 years, Intel are really dragging their feet with IB-E and Haswell-E so I'm just going to go for the i7 4770K. Looking at the selection of mobos, which one would you recommend (feel free to suggest others): ASRock Z87 EXTREME4 Asus...

Sounds very interesting, if they OC well then I'm sold. Much cheaper than the IPS Korean ones too.

Crossfire doesn't work with Tomb Raider?

Yep, enabling exclusive full screen made CF work :) Bit confusing since there's "full screen" and "exclusive full screen" options. Any idea of the performance increase with 13.2 beta 7?

Crossfire doesn't work with Tomb Raider?

Hmm I turned that off cause I thought it would improve performance, will try enabling it first and see what happens.

Crossfire doesn't work with Tomb Raider?

Just got the game, but noticed CF isn't working. I'm running Catalyst version 13.1, should I be running 13.2 b7 and are there any known bugs in b7 I should be worried about? It's not running too bad off just one 7970 actually, I'm getting a playable 35fps @6002x1080 with no TressFX or AA and...

    GTX 680 vs. Radeon HD 7970 - Multi-Display Showdown @ [H]

This, and also a max OC to max OC comparison would also be interesting. To be honest I think only a small proportion of the people who buy GTX 680's and HD 7970's care about out of the box experience, after all if you spend $800+ on a GPU setup then surely you would download a small piece of...

Xeon E1230v2 vs Core i5/7 series

If your mobo supports it then it's a great choice since you're not overclocking and you don't need onboard graphics (I'm assuming you have a dedicated GPU since you mentioned gaming). In your situation it's basically an i7 3770 but much cheaper.

question on phyx secondary card? tried to research.

Which P8Z77? There's several variants with different suffixes, but as far as I can tell they all only have 2 PCI-E slots so you wouldn't be able to use those 3 cards.

Microsoft Surface Preorders Sell Out In Under 24hrs

I loved MD, in fact I've still got it. They were way better than bulky and skipping CD players and IIRC MDs were around for several years before iPods came out so at least you got your money's worth in those years.

    Need help to choose monitor

You need to answer those previous questions I put forward regarding what are the most important factors for you in a monitor. Unfortunately there isn't a perfect monitor with 120Hz, low input lag, low response time, 10-bit IPS, with a choice of matte or glossy - you're going to have to...

    Retina display - worth it?

Were you working with a glossy or matte screen before? Because switching from matte to glossy will also make the screen seem "clearer".

    Ivy Bridge equivalent of 920

This is actually the best answer. The Xeon won't have overclocking or integrated graphics but you don't need those anyway. It's much cheaper than a 3770K and only slightly more expensive than a 3570K but has Hyperthreading which will be useful for what you're doing.

Is Lenovo the best laptop brand?

Lenovo's T-series is pretty much indestructible, at my first company when I started off working on a graduate scheme, hundreds of us were all given T-series laptops and in those 2 years I don't recall anyone complaining of a broken laptop. Off topic, but how young is your wife if she still...

Your nomination for best-feeling laptop keyboard?

Thinkpads, no question. There's a reason why so many businesses prefer them. For thin laptops it's the MBA, tried out a lot of ultrabooks but the key travel is terrible in most of them and uncomfortable after long periods.
