Steam Turns 18 YO Today - Rolled Out: Sept. 12 2003

Jan 1, 2004. I think it was to download and install CS updates and I could not stand that I had to use it.

    Psychonauts 2 announced, crowdfunding started.

I’m glad to hear Double Fine didn’t phone it in. Psychonauts is an all time great game and it would have been a shame to follow it up with something subpar. The milkman has completed his route.

    story driven co-op fps

Black Ops III had a co-op capable campaign. Story driven co-op FPS is quite niche.

What to do with very old PC games

Keep or give to friends you know will keep them and not toss them. I have boxes for older games along with the manuals and discs, and regret not having the boxes for a bunch more (FreeSpace 2 stings, especially).

    Quake Remastered

If it’s free to me I’ll check it out. The original Quake is my favorite out of the series.

    Orcs must Die 3

I liked the original OMD and never did wrap up OMD2. I had been playing it coop with someone and it just didn't click for us for whatever reason. Tentative interest.

    Doom Eternal

Yeah, the music in 2016 was much better with quite a few memorable tracks.

    Doom Eternal

Credits just rolled on TAG part 2. That was much shorter than part 1. Arena design was still good and the escalation arenas were quite enjoyable on Ultra-Nightmare. Combat tuning definitely felt a bit too easy with the hammer mechanic regenerating massive amounts of HP in one fell move and easy...

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Doom Eternal The Ancient Gods part 2 and Gears Tactics which went on the backburner while I mainlined Doom Eternal and TAG part 1.

    Doom Eternal

The combat arenas and pacing in TAG part 1 stayed consistently above the vanilla campaign. That final boss' final stage was rough on me, though. Sheez. I can't say I'm a fan of the "walk slowly while you use this one weapon to do this specific trick" mechanic. Most of the fights it kinda worked...

    Doom Eternal

A follow up - having completed the main game and starting The Ancient Gods. Wow, the arena design is far and away better in TAG. I usually have some time to look at the arena and get an idea of routes before I enter it. There's a lot more jump pads to send you cross arena which were a staple in...
