    S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

I just completed Metro: Exodus running Russian voiceovers and English subtitles. Someone elsewhere recommended playing through the original that way and the habit stuck with that game series. It can be a way to get better/less noticeably bad (to native English speakers) voiceovers.

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

The voiceovers make me miss "Cheeki breeki" and doubting that it's going to have the same charm and weirdness that made the first game + expandalones as memorable as they were.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

After patch it's still crashing on load with any RT enabled. Going to try a clean install of the Complete Edition just in case there's something to that. ETA: And clean installing worked to get it running. Just at Kaer Morhen but better than the black screen CTD on load.

    Escape From Tarkov

I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't been a first to full release clone that got inside BSG's loop. Or, heck, a campaign co-op ripoff that lifted the combat and exploration feel.

Darktide: Vermintide (same team) but in 40K IG vs Chaos Cultists

I'm thankful to hear that because it was mine, and a buddy's, biggest complaint during the open beta. We couldn't make anything out well enough until enemies were on top of us and rarely were able to spot an enemy at range getting ready to shoot.

    Dark Souls 3

I did not have this sense, and some of that might have been because some hacker messed my save game up (I was able to recover it but then kept a manual set of backups) right when I got to the DLC so that set the bar pretty high in terms of what it would take to get me bothered.

    Escape From Tarkov

Don't take dying personally. Don't repeek angles. Do be surprisingly aggressive; you can catch people out. Do buy the best ammo v. armor you can get. Do aim for the face.

    The Ascent (Cyberpunk ARPG)

It's solid and I'd say close to being worth the sale price we picked it up at which was $20 or thereabouts.

    The Ascent (Cyberpunk ARPG)

Co-op is still rocky in terms of rando bugs (triggers not working, weird sound problems) but no fatal issues with saves or anything in about 11hr played.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Metro: Exodus after leaving it on the pile for quite a while; having purchased it when it released on GoG, but holding off playing it until I had an RTX card that could do justice to the game. Then I just played a bunch of other crap after getting the new card and am finally cycling back around.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

I've been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the writing is worse than the complaints led me to believe. The challenge tombs are still the best part of the game, so far. I haven't revisited the prior entries but I recall them being less busy with resource/crafting garbage.

Bethesda.net shutting down, moving games to Steam

Good. I actively avoided buying the Doom: Eternal Collector's Edition (I have the Doom 2016 one) because it was a bethesda.net key and instead of a day 1 purchase I waited until the game was heavily discounted to buy it. They see they could maybe get a bigger slice of the pie and fail to...

WWZ with the coop group - we've levelled enough and figured out the game more such that we're getting ready to start climbing the difficulty ladder. Solid co-op horder shooter, I like the weapon upgrade system where all weapons found in world match your unlocked and selected upgrades. Classes...

SnowRunner, some of the LEGO games but they have violence (you said Homeworld though and there's definitely violence in that), Train Sim World 2 if he's into trains, Railroad Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Gizmos and Gadgets (might be tough to get running), Dr. Brain, etc. Escape Velocity or...

    It Takes Two

There's quite a bit of platforming which can frustrate my wife but I would say the game is generally forgiving. Fail state is usually both characters dying and resuscitation time is short enough the other person can stay alive in that window for the respawn.

I just wrapped up Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Good platformer; gorgeous visuals; similar insta-death mechanics in some scripted sequences as the original which are just trial and error sections if you're not reading the route they want you to take properly (at the pace they intend for you to...

Ori and the Will of the Wisp only this time in earnest because I finally cleared my last owned DLC in SnowRunner (there's more I just don't have them). Monster Hunter: World coop - the game is mechanically decent and taking down the various monsters is fun enough. The cutscenes are frequent...

Six classic Star Trek games released on GoG

Review the game you finished recently.

Correct - I am doing Yukon last after playing base game + the other Year 1 DLCs and am clocking over 400 hours. That includes a not-insignificant chunk of time put into my son's game so he can see things get built, but there's literally hundreds of hours of low stakes gameplay to be had. I...

    Elden Ring (From Software RPG)

I had someone corrupt my DkS3 save while in the the Ringed City and it was annoying at first and then actually a problem later because it set a flag on a boss and glitched the game. I was able to use a third party tool to save the game and character but it was absolutely not something that...
