Does the Sony sdm-p234 support 1:1 Pixel mapping
P234 itself supports 1:1 mapping. as for video scaling, if you are using 90 series driver, it is located in display->appearance. -

Dell 2007WFP - is this normal?
Like DanK and I mentioned, all S-IPS screens behave like this, including apple monitors of course. Based on my experience, I have not seen any type of LCD panel does even close to good in extreme cases (such as observing the panel displaying solid black from some extreme angle in a dark room) -

My FW900 died in the same way. It flashed green lines, then screen become very bright, and the montior shut down itself. At the beginning, somehow it could recover by power cycle. The dying process took several months before no recovery any more. Sony said its CRT had problem. The repair... -

Dell's insisting on kind "special" processing, which is originally on the normal/game/video and now on game/video, must mean something. Both modes feature highly dynamic image change. Maybe reducing color resolution (banding) could fix some inherited shortcomings of PVA panel and overdrive... -

Dell 2405 problems..
Is it on the back of the monitor? My Dell 3007 has service tag stick on the back of the monitor. As for the issue, I think the monitor is normal. The problem is on the signal source. I mean the monitor must be intellegent enough to only mess the video around while displaying the lable... -

In my opinion, S-IPS has better overall performance. PVA's numbers look nice. However, it seems samsung just pick what the best the scrren can do for those numbers but they don't care in how slim probability that those numbers can be achieved in reality. both contrast and latency of PVA are... -

Additional comment, beside the conditions mentioned above, the black does not appear so good only when it is used in a dark room. :)
