WD Selling Green Drives in Regular Boxes but I'm still not sure if I should return it

Very sorry about the late reply, I thought the thread was dead. I do have an update which should clarify things. Firstly, as to your question: I'm not sure what GP or GP-AV stand for, but I can tell you I don't see those letters anywhere on the box. These boxes are either mis-labeled, or the...

Read Error Rate keeps going up on SSD...

So are you saying I've got nothing to worry about based on the data I posted for my corsair?

Read Error Rate keeps going up on SSD...

Thanks. What software did you use? Howcome the first drive doesn't show the read error rate?

Read Error Rate keeps going up on SSD...

OK, so ignore the raw numbers and just worry about the current/worst. If that's true then I should be OK. But I would be curious how other peoples numbers look for SSDs running windows. I wonder if anyone has a raw number of zero... That HDD Guardian looks nice, I'm gonna pick that up. Thanks...

Read Error Rate keeps going up on SSD...

Well, the read error rate is at 94 now, seems to fluctuate between 92 & mid 90s depending on workload at the time. But interestingly as I was looking through some files I actually stumbled onto some screenshots of HD-Tune Pro tests that I ran in october of 2012, very shortly after I got the...

WD Selling Green Drives in Regular Boxes but I'm still not sure if I should return it

Well, I can vouch for Hitachi. I've been having problems with a number of my hard drives, you can read about it here http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1812801 Of all the HDDs I own, only the Hitachi still hasn't shown a single read error. For what that's worth.

WD Selling Green Drives in Regular Boxes but I'm still not sure if I should return it

Which link? Anyway, I can tell you the box that the drive comes in doesn't say "green" on it anywhere.

Read Error Rate keeps going up on SSD...

The drive is a Corsair Force 3 SSD, and according to HD Tune the amount of life left is still sitting at 100. It's about 2 years old now. Here's the HD Tune Pro health printout: HD Tune Pro: Corsair Force 3 SSD Health ID Current Worst ThresholdData...

WD Selling Green Drives in Regular Boxes but I'm still not sure if I should return it

Did you happen to catch the price? Just curious. It was marked down greatly at my local Frye's which makes me suspicious that they may be aware that the drive in the box is different than the one on the box. I wonder if I can get them to match the same price I paid for an equivalent drive with...

Mixing PC8500 Ram with PC6400 Ram?

I agree with that but I have to say, I think people probably exaggerated the speed benefits of ram as well. Unless you're flat out depriving your system of the minimum amount needed to support your usage habits, I don't believe a surplus will amount to much. I've been told that my 4GB of memory...

Mixing PC8500 Ram with PC6400 Ram?

Thanks you guys, scholars & gentlemen as always. I'm leaning toward just keeping the 6400s. I know we see a lot of hard core types in here who are convinced every last mhz bump counts. We all know the type, they'll buy the fastest CPU on release day when they could spend next to half for the...

Read Error Rate keeps going up on SSD...

I've only recently started to monitor my hard drives and the results have been very revealing. My Corsair SSD is my most recent purchase, I put my OS on there naturally. But HDD Regenerator is reccomending I back up my drive because the read errors are going up constantly. Right now, the total...
