FInally got my DT990s and Zx and im a bit unimpressed :(

I put my own O2 together and have never had any issues. It's not the best amp I own but it does sound pretty good. If you can't sort out the problem, try diyaudio or use warranty if bought from a builder. Hope you get things sorted :-)

Strange indeed. Your source would have to be pushing close to 3V in order to clip the input on the O2 on low gain. Could just be a faulty op-amp. Hope you're able to sort out the issue :/

Is it clipping on low gain setting? Don't be afraid of using more of the volume pot than you're used to, and using the amp on low gain.

Never buy anything from Asus! No warranty on the Phoebus!

Be persistent. Some csr reps are just clueless. Don't have to get nasty with them, but don't take no for an answer.

    SOL Republic headphones

They have a good amount of clamping force and on ear, so for long sessions probably not the most comfortable. Definitely have a boosted bass response, so if that's what you're after and don't mind the clamp go for it. I had a pair on loan from a friend for a week, and they seem like they can...

Help me to recognize this headphone output

Yup it's a 6.3mm (1/4") jack, but the amp does not come with an adapter. Not listing the size of the jack is probably something you take for granted when your client base can tell the size by sight alone. It should be listed though.

    Soundcard or external DAC/amp options?

And how much are you willing to pay :p Seriously, you might be happy with something as inexpensive as a Fiio E10, or you may want to spend more for flexibility and functionality.

RCA to XLR cable to reduce interference & hiss?

How high do you have the "volume" turned up on the back of the speakers? You could just be hearing the amp noise, or the amp may be picking up noise and amplifying it.

So frustrated... need some sage advice.

I have a pretty good memory lol. I never said you hated them, just that you thought they were a ripoff because of the price above what a stock T50RP cost. http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1039578399&postcount=4 I want to chime in about the weight. They are a heavy pair of headphones...

OP: I know you think the Mr. Speakers Mad Dogs are a rip off, but seriously try them. Maybe they're not what you're looking for, but you're only out shipping if they aren't for you. I think they sound great, and the comfort and isolation are top notch.

    HiFimeDIY Sabre USB DAC

It's not perfect, but for $50 you can definitely get much worse :p

    HiFimeDIY Sabre USB DAC

I picked one up a couple of weeks ago. The treble can be a little bright at times, but it's not overly rough or fatiguing. The bass isn't overbearing, but it definitely has more authority and weight than your standard onboard. Very clean sound overall, and a very inexpensive usb solution for...

    Computer noise through speakers

It could well be the onboard sound/motherboard going bad, but look at your psu as well. The speakers/amp don't have the problem since the problem disappears when you don't use the pc as a source.

    looking for a MDR-7506 replacement

You could stay with Sony and go with the MDR-V6, or go with the Sennheiser HD439 at your price point. Both are pretty comfortable, circumaural, closed, easy to drive, and fairly flat. The Sennheiser are more polite in the treble imo and sound better, but both can be had right around $100 or...
