Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I personally can't see why Nvidia would raise the prices from the 8800 GTX launch with the G92. They didn't have any competition then with the 8800 GTX either then.
I don't expect the flops number to translate into even a two fold increase of performance, as 1.9 would be enough for me.
Does anyone have links to Microsoft, where they specifically state how many cores on a single CPU, and how many CPU in total are supported by Vista?
If these numbers are different from each version of Vista, please specify.
Thank you.

I hope Nvidia can keep the date, and that the card will be almost twice as fast as the 8800 GTX. I want two of them then.
A GTS version should also be quite astonishing.
Sorry if this is already posted somewhere.
No, not that different than a SMP if not better.
However, it is less prefered compared to a "native" quad core. I am not thinking about the bandwidth needed, as I don't believe Intel's QC are really that limited concerning this. I am refering to the fact that each chip on the MCP, would have...
I totally agree with this. But why this instead of using a single core? With Intels quad series using a MCP approach, I would tend to think this is not a good thing in terms of performance, because of design limits with that approach.
Which is why I wrote "kinda". I personally don't know the reason(s) why the load is spread across multiple cores, but I can observe it does (almost always) happen with games.
Switching between multiple cores constantly is something I regard as inefficient. However it is clear that a single...
It kinda isn't. Single threaded games will be forced to spread the load across multiple cores, at least in Win XP Pro. This is a fact.
Take UT2004 which shouldn't be multithreaded at all, with my quad I see a load on all cores:
0 and 2 have a very small load.
1 and 3 have a significant load...
It is true high FSB can gain extra performance, but the difference is usually not that great, and sometimes there isn't any at all. It is also more complicated than just upping the multi. There are also also issues overclocking the FSB with some motherboards.
If a person have the motherboard...
"Not that bad..."
HD 2900 XT and its delayed launch, hype, and not launching the entire familly of R6?? as promised isn't a flop to me. It isn't a desirable situation, but it isn't quite a NV30 scenario (they still sold quite well with the refresh).
Number of SP (96 vs 128), memory bus width (320bit vs 384bit), number of TMU (24 vs 32), number of ROP (20 vs 24), shader clock (1200mhz vs 1350mhz), core clock (500mhz vs 575mhz), amount of VRAM (640MB vs 768MB)... can't remember if there are any difference in memory clock.
On a note, there...
Not true. I know of three games at least where this isn't true. Also, this not only with one 8800 GTX but two of them.
High resolution for me is 2560 * 1600 and "all eye candy on" is minimum 4 * AA / 16 * AF + all other settings maxed.
Never say never. From personal experience F.E.A.R. is...
Read the driver notes (known issues) for any Catalyst driver released since Vista came out. There are not only problems with Vista, but also XP 32 / 64.
I can link to all of them if you require it, but I would like to think no one assumed ATI's drivers were flawless regarding stability and...
Good post.
I have two 8800 GTX cards, and I would actually have loved if a single 2900 XT was faster than both. That would have been an awesome progress and achievement. There are quite a few games that isn't "fast enough" for me with my setup, and any competition would only be of great...
