Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Someone recommended I unplug all of the other hard drives on my computer, and boot into knoppix and run this:
1) su - root
2) dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda
is that a safe command to run?? Will it help?
But I wouldn't think a format could possibly corrupt the drive to the point of no return... or did the HDD just fail coincidentally at the same time? I hadn't used the drive in about 3 months, maybe it had failed before and i just noticed when I tried to format it?
Anyone know why? I formatted it to NTFS in windows 7 and a popup came up saying "the format could not be completed successfully". Then the drive did not show up. It does not show up in computer managment / disk managment at all. I have tried it plugged in internally through IDE and externally...
I have a p5w DH deluxe, and when I go to the bios, it recognizes that there is 6 gb of ram installed, but it says "3.2gb accessible".
A p5w DH deluxe can take up to 8 gigs, so what is the issue???
EDIT:
Fix - enable memory remapping in your BIOS.
The task manager only shows 3gb's, and when I open after effects it only shows that it is using 3 gb's as well. But my actual system info shows 6 gb's and I have that much installed.
Is it an issue with taskmanager and after effects being 32bit applications?
this is 64bit vista btw.
I didn't notice there was an ATI forum in specific, so I reposted in here.

already tried that. Ic ant' do anything to the drive. And I don't care if it's recognized in windows, I just want to be able to install ubuntu on it.
BTW, switching it so it is plugged in on the PRI_IDE cable works, but then I have no way of plugging in my drive.
Hi Everyone. I have been using a 250 gb WD caviar hd (SATA) for a while now, but I found a 40gb IDE drive (Maxtor) and decided to put it in.
I have a dvd drive plugged in on the PRI_IDE slot, the sata hard drive in the SATA1 slot, and then in the PRI_EIDE slot i have plugged in the maxtor 40gb...
