Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Well, there's my Archlinux desktop at home that has pretty much the basics.. openoffice, pidgin, etc.. gnome desktop environment.
I've been throwing together a couple virtual machines with a bunch of pentesting tools installed. Started with an Archlinux base in Virtualbox, and I'm currently...
I love watching people argue over what ultimately boils down to a matter of preference ^_^ Operating System choices are entirely subjective.. Every OS has their strong points and weak points.. None of them are universally better
Joe, they're gonna do it anyway, just sit back and try to enjoy it ;)
Operating System cults.. I've used Windows most of my life (up until Vista's release), then straight Linux for 2-3 years.. Now I've got a Macbook Pro and run Gentoo and Arch in VMs (deciding which to use for my pentesting stuff)
Use the right tool for the right task. </rant>
ArchLinux for me :) CentOS for my servers.
I don't know whether or not to suggest Ubuntu to newcomers anymore.. I mean sure it makes everything point-and-click but in doing so it cripples the learning process.. If you really want a (fairly) simple install and to learn a lot in the process go...
if you have your windows install disks..
1. boot that up
2. chose 'Repair'
3. run 'Recovery Console'
4. type 'fixmbr' to reinstall the windows bootloader
PM me if you need help.
Why not use VNC? On my gentoo box I have it set up so that I can type
# vnc-server
and it'll create a new fluxbox session for me to vnc into on port 5901.. I can do this as many times as I want on subsequent ports.. ie: typing `vnc-server` again starts a completely different session on port...
