Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Re:Re: Memory: I totally hear you, and will be running Vista Ultimate 64, and I will be adding another 4 gigs as soon as I find decent enough reason for the $40.
Re:Re: Processor: I do see where you're coming from, and it makes a lot of sense. If I roll Q6600, I'll through something...
PSUs, yes, I see there are others than corsair, and I definitely see what you mean about the advantages of modular, and the Silverstone 750 looks just fine from here, so I'll stick with that.
RAM will be 4 gigs of Patriot Viper (with rebate its $22, hard to argue with that :)
NichoL, I wasn't...
Is modular *that* big of a deal in an SFF case? The only reason I ask is because the 620HX is actually more money than the 750W Corsair PSU I was already looking at and if it has more power and is cheaper, by the same manufacturer I'm feeling I should roll with the 750W. Thoughts?
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
LAN party and general Gaming, and "general" PC use (video encoding, photoshop, outputting to an HD TV, office work, web surfing, network streaming) nothing "system critical" as this is going to be my mod/fun box.
2)...
Hey guys (and gals)
I'm getting ready to enjoy my Christmas present to myself with a new SFF box, but being as I've never worked with size constraints like this before (I've always done full tower) I was hoping some of you guys with some experience in small size hardware could make sure I...
I had a 17" PC (PC mind you) and it was a bear. So with that in mind, 15" was the one for me. With the 8600GT 256MB with 4 gigs RAM, the only thing I'm sacrificing is screen real estate, but hey I've got TVs to plug it into if I want more. I have all the power of the 17" only smaller. I...
I'll say that if it is at all possible, use a drive with FW800. I go between using FW800 and FW400, and I know some don't seem to notice, but moving 50+ gigs at a time dear god it makes all the difference in the world. USB is for flash drives, not for the big drives. I haven't used one before...
I use HFS+ but I don't need to worry about windows, and I have HD movies that break the 4 gig limit on FAT32. And Aperture library is, well its big, really big so I need to take care of that too. Each their own I guess. You're not likely to run in to too many songs bigger than 4 gigs though :)
So I have a WD My Book Pro 500 gig (465 gigs total capacity)
It has been in use through a firewire 400 port on a G4 Cube as a kind of media center with 170ish gigs of movies, and another 60gigs of music. Maybe a gig of random files that have just found there way on to the disk, but nothing...
OK, here's a question. I'm attending college at the moment, and the fact that I'm using someone else's network is making me a bit blue. Disregarding traffic monitoring, I also can't get my torrent program (Azureus) to work. The network has a ban accross that traffic. My question: Is there a...
Umm, I'm not sure which is my boot partition. If I hit up "df" in the terminal I get:
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
unionfs 1154784 687668 467116 60% /
varrun 517792 84 517708 1%...
I have been running Ubuntu 6.06 for a bit now and everything was going fine. I ran it in its partition separate from an old NTFS piece that remained there for potential Window's issues. So it goes, I needed to install Windows today, and after putting in a Windows Pro install, I don't get the...
Yeah, all great stuff. I've read the memory bandwidth thing, and it makes sense, just remember: student budget :) The upgrade to 4 gigs, is significantly more than up to 2 gigs, so that's the next thing on the list of future upgrades.
Does anyone know anything about Clovertown yet? I know...

This was posted on the HardOCP news site, and I buy it. It makes sense. They'll save their fourth quarter by preventing one of those laws (forget the name) that states people hold off buying new stuff if the upgrade is on the horizon, which is...
My major is planned to be Business Administration, with a minor in Psychology. Of course, they say you change it five times so I'm not sure how well that will go :)
