Well yes the banding on the 2007 was fixed under DVI for sure, but I'm wondering about VGA. Anyone?

I know the revision took care of banding on the Dell when running under DVI, but how about VGA? Does it still band there or not? I want to use the Dell with my Xbox 360 via VGA, but not if the banding is still a problem. thanks.

I've owned both the Dell 2007 and Gateway and returned them both for various design flaws. I've seen the HP F2105 in the store would probably buy that one if it weren't so expensive. However, I do recall reading some people complaining about input lag on the HP, you might want to check into it.

Ugh. I had the Gateway for awhile and took it back. The component inputs are a complete joke. I hooked my Xbox 360 to them and was just stunned at how dark it is, something like 30 gamma points less than the VGA/DVI and there's no adjusting for it. Contrast is all out of whack too. Avoid...

That's not true at all. You just go into the Xbox 360's dashboard and select 1280x720 or 1280x768 and you've got widescreen. In fact, the 360 *mainly* supports widescreen. Some games don't offer 4:3 aspect ratios and are letterboxed on a normal TV or CRT. I've played Oblivion, Quake IV, Ghost...

Try this example on for size. A guy took this pic of his 2007 displaying his AOL wallpaper. That be banding all over the place! He said the different shades of blues going out from the moon should blend into one another and clearly they don't. This was my experience with the 2007 and that's why...

I've got a VD-Z3 on the way to me this week so I'm going to test that theory. I'm hoping it works (fingers crossed), because this is the big drawback to the Viewsonic (and a lot of other monitors too. It's not their fault, it's the stupid VGA cable).

I think anybody buying this monitor is foolish. I already did, but that's before I saw the banding problem. Understand -- this is a problem that even a cheapie LCD from 2 years ago does not have. The 2007 has a serious design flaw somewhere in the DVI and is not up to any standard you'd call...

You mean the backlight bleeding problem that Dell never fixed, despite howls of anger for years? I don't think this is a "bad batch" of 2007s and I'm not sure Dell gives a fig. They did nothing about the 2005's backlight bleeding after something like 4 revisions.
