So would a 256 mb video card make much of a difference from a 128 mb???

hi, when i play doom 3 i would like my settings to be on high. But the hardocp doom3 article said that i will need a 256 mb video card. Right now i have a 9700 pro 128mb. I was wondering if there is anyway i could upgrade the amount of memory in my video card.
