    Q9450 to Q9650 will rock. I swapped out my Abit IP-35E for a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R last night and only took about 30 minutes to change.     If it were me, I'd try to install windows on another harddrive. If that didn't work, I'd just replace everything in the box with another complete system. I did and works great. Dell sucks and I got a good deal at Frys and replaced everything (including Powersupply) and now have a GREAT...

    q6600 vs q9400

    I've got Q6700 and a Q9450 and the Q9450 rocks. The Q6700 isn't bad but I'm sure the extra cache makes the difference. Not really a gamer here, mostly encode with both computers, but I can see more speed with the Q9450 in most apps. Enjoy your new Quad.

    Try the motherboard out of the case and make sure it works. Easy enough to do just the time of removing everything and doing it. If it works then, well you know it's good to go.
