Q9450 to Q9650 will rock. I swapped out my Abit IP-35E for a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R last night and only took about 30 minutes to change. I currently have my Q9450 running at 3.2 GHz and not a problem. Got the motherboard here in this forum last weekend and received it last night and couldn't wait...
If it were me, I'd try to install windows on another harddrive. If that didn't work, I'd just replace everything in the box with another complete system. I did and works great. Dell sucks and I got a good deal at Frys and replaced everything (including Powersupply) and now have a GREAT...
I've got Q6700 and a Q9450 and the Q9450 rocks. The Q6700 isn't bad but I'm sure the extra cache makes the difference. Not really a gamer here, mostly encode with both computers, but I can see more speed with the Q9450 in most apps.
Enjoy your new Quad.
Sorry about talking so long. Deal at Frys is $169.99 plus tax and then a $20.00 rebate.
Firgure I could sell the Q8200 and get M/B for a low price. Saw used M/B's for around $70.00 here in forum. This would be new and all accessories would be there.
Will have to check to see if they...
I'm thinking the same thing. Only have a slight overclock with this motherboard, but see that other motherboard (Gigabyte) has many more features. Hummmmmm
Guess I could sell the Q8200.
Have to check with the wife of course.... LOL
See Frys has a deal on a Q8200 and this motherboard and was just wondering if I should even get it as 775 is EOL. I've got an Q9450 that runs good now and really was wondering if I should even get this combo.
Try the motherboard out of the case and make sure it works. Easy enough to do just the time of removing everything and doing it. If it works then, well you know it's good to go.
? If you tried using an RJ-45 where you had the wall plate , how did you check for speed? A tester? Since the cable is so short I am curious how you could test that end.
Newbie at networking here, but I do make my own cables and haven't had any problems yet.
:)
I've been using my Abit IP35-E for a while now and love it. Makes my 9450 run just great.
Still a very good choice. I have the same setup with a Q6700 as well. Both systems run great.
Enjoy which ever you get. You won't be disappointed...
Plus the Q8200 doesn't have Virtualization which you may want. The Q8400 does, but I'm just letting you know is all. You could find this out on Intel's web site if your curious.
Glad it's running cooler.
You should go back to Task Mgr and open up second tab "Processes" and see what programs are using your CPU. Right now mines at 0 to 1 percent.
Could be your anti-virus
Q9xxx series chips are BA ...
Mine is so much faster than either a Q6600 or Q6700 (current proc).
Good choice if you pick a 94xx 95xx or a 96xx proc.
You'll be glad you did .:D
