    Do you think it makes a difference network performance-wise? I'll probably never use it again after this PC and I have two PCI slots available, but only one PCIe (which makes me want to get the PCI version if it will work just as well).

    Thanks for all of your replies! I think I might go with the Crucial VLP Sport. It's $20 cheaper than the G.SKILL Ares and is on Amazon (faster shipping & easier to return if there are problems). I'll probably pull the trigger this weekend if anyone else has any input!

    Right, but if the cables were damaged, then it seems like the Ethernet wouldn't work at all. Since the problem is only when the computer wakes up from sleep (as well as every once in a while when it's on), it doesn't seem like it would be a problem with the cables.

    I actually have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ethernet driver. I never thought that might be an issue since that's a software and not hardware thing. I can try it, though. No, I didn't replace the ethernet cables. Could that really be the issue?
