thanks for the replies everyone I've decided to keep it, the brightness difference is quite noticeable with certain colors but not something i cannot live with. one thing I'm hoping for is that the brightness does not get any worse on the bottom. i'll be sure to avoid TN panels in the future

sorry about the photo, it was taken with my phone basically the problem is the bottom half of the monitor is slightly brighter than the top half. its more noticeable with bright/light colors, esp if they are solid colors. there is no issue when the screen is very dark or completely black
