Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks for answering this question!!
I basically have determined that since I have a 24/7 running PC, and only use plex when I'm not using the PC, there is no reason to have a powerful NAS!
Thanks again.
I've seen a lot of people getting very excited over NAS that supports transcoding/encoding on the fly, but really, what is the benefit?
Why wouldn't you just have your computer connect to a MUCH CHEAPER NAS and run plex from the PC? Am I missing something, aside from maybe a slightly lower...
^The expenses are just ridiculous, but that's what I figured. I'm already struggling to keep my 3 TB system backed up can't imagine an 8 TB system.
Although I am using 2x3TB Synology Hybrid RAID, so basically will be purchasing 4x3TB for 3 TB of storage, so my methods are very stupid.
I just had one of my Western Digital RED drives fail in a Synology RAID.
I've never been someone who would return hard drives before, because they contain personal information. However, I just bought this thing for $150 less than 6 months ago, and would really prefer to just return the...
Right, because China is a capitalist mecca.
China is a government run country, with global capitalist-zones in government approved areas only. That's not capitalism.
Well, first off, extremely jealous of your insane (awesom) storage solution. What the heck do you store on that thing!?
Secondly, yes, but my NAS is a maximium of TWO drives. It seems to me that it would be better to setup a nightly backup of Drive A onto Drive B, rather than using the...
I recently purchased a Synology DS212j and installed 2x 3TB WD Red Drives.
Upon formatting the disks, it asked me to choose a method of initiation for the drives, and I went with the defaul "Synology Hybrid RAID". I have now looked into this a little more and it appears that the "Synology...
Just downloaded AMD overdrive - getting the exact same readings. I don't know how my chip is still running if it has been routinely getting up to 89º C when playing Skyrim....
No, no, and no...I've been lazy with that stuff, unfortunately. Could it really make that big of a difference? If so, I'll investigate.
I've always hated the thermal paste thing, how are you supposed to spread out paste the size of a "grain of rice" across the entire chip? I'm also hesitant...
CoreTemp does, shows
CPU #0: 82º C
Keep in mind this is all running 100% stock again. I never overclocked or unlocked 4th core before this week, so I never paid any attention to the temps. I just bumped my case fans up to high, but how much of a difference could that possibly make... (I've...
OK, I have now reverted back to 3 cores, and realized that it wasn't the 4th core causing the overheating.
My CPUID Hardware Monitor is now showing just as high temps - even higher! See image below...
Now, is this accurate? How is my chip overheating to ridiculous temps after only 20...
